My favourite movie was about golf - called "Tin Cup" where a good but aimless professional golfer suddenly decides to try and qualify for the US Open and would have succeeded but for an overweenng desire to clear the pond on the last hole!

I like most music but can't seem to "get" the Hop Hop and other modern styles - particularly when the words are drowned out by the accompaniment. Favourite classics are from the Baroque period, Mozart etc

I have a volume called "1001 Books to Read Before You Die" and I am working my way through it! It goes from oldies like Plato right through to modern day volumes. I prefer a well-reasoned detailed book, and do like historical fiction if it is well-researched and written. Our library is sprawling and now has a sub-section in our children's house's library as well.

Green like the New Zealand Bushlands

Oxtail Stew without a doubt! with plenty of mashed potato and greens, with an apple crumb and ice cream for dessert coupled with a glass of good red wine and coffee.

I tend to offer myself for positions in the clubs we join. So I am chiarman, or secretary or treasurer of nine different local groups, ranging from our Church Pastoral Council, to Amnesty International. I depend a lot on my lovely wife for support and direction, and she also carries out a lot of club duties in her own interest areas.

I like good friends, a quiet book, great views on the golf course, a well-adjusted computer, a comfortable chair, lively sport on TV [when my team wins!], grandchildren who visit, travelling the world
|
Noisy parties, crowded, smokefilled rooms, heavy traffic, complaining about life, pornographic images on TV
|
Computing, reading, caring for my budgies, geological studies, history, music of most kinds
