"Cinema should make you forget you are sitting in a theatre" - Roman Polanski.
Love movies but not horror and science fiction Particularly enjoy a good drama. It would be difficult for me to pick my favourite movies because there are so many that I love.
I recently saw saw "Invictus" with Morgan Freeman which I really enjolyed. Also "Valentines Day" which was a nice little feelgood movie. Saw Mel Gibson's latest, thought it was OK but typical Mel.

"Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life." - Berthold Auerbach
I will listen to most types of music except heavy metal or rap. I particularly enjoy easy listening, like Michael Buble, Harry Connick Jnr.etc.
Easter Bonnets

"Books are the bees which carry the pollen from one to another mind." - James Russell Lowell
I enjoy most fiction except si-fiction or horror. Also the occasional biography. Have read a lot of Michael Connelly lately, which I have enjoyed. My last good read was 'Matthew Flinders Cat' by Australian author Bryce Courtenay. Just finished reading 'Barra Creek' by another Australian Di Morrissey. Really enjoyed it. This is a great read if anyone is interested in what the Australian outback was like in the 50's and 60's. I have now gone back to my mysteries and reading Patricia Cornwell, who is also another of my favourites.

" The purest and most thoughtful minds are those which love colour the most." - John Ruskin
I guess I love all shades of blue. I also like autumn colours but I rarely wear clothes in these colours.

"Worries go down better with soup." - Jewish Proverb
I don't think I have a favourite food. That's my problem I like it all. Although I do have a bit of a "sweet tooth"
Love all fruits but the old tummy won't tolerate acidity so citrus, pineapples etc. sadly are not on my menu.

I come from a family of five. An older sister and three younger brothers. All still living. We lost our mother some years ago but my dad turned 90 last May and is still living by himself and enjoying good health. I live with my husband of forty years. No pets except for the birds and possums who visit us on our patio and we enjoy feeding them and watching their antics.
We have a daughter and two sons. We had a third son, our youngest, who was killed in a traffic accident six years ago. I don't think I will ever get over this loss but with God's help I have found the strength to accept that it was His will and He is now looking after him for me.
My daughter is an artist and some of her work is in my gallery for you to enjoy. She held her first solo Exhibition last September and since then has gained much recognition and acceptance. A gallery is exhibiting her work and over Christmas she had some good sales. She has been approached to do some workshops as well as demonstrations of her technique to art groups. This year is looking very positive for her and I am extremely happy for her as he has worked very hard and deserves her success. If you would like to have a peek at some of her art, her website is www.amandarussian.com. If you wish you could also check out her blog www.amandarussianart.blog.com I hope you enjoy her work.
I have five grandchildren, two boys and three girls from 13 years to 5 years, who bring us much joy and happiness. Our eldest grandson, Christian, left before Christmas to spend two years in Canada and we are really going to miss him.
Before I retired I worked in a Bank. I have been retired for about seven years but do not miss work one little bit. I am really enjoying retirement. I keep myself so busy now, that I sometimes wonder when I had time to go to work. We live about 8K from the centre of Brisbane and have lived here for 40 years since we married.
This is a photograph of the City of Brisbane where I live.

I love my online friends, particularly those I have met on NOTH. I love friendly happy people who don't take themselves too seriously.
I like reading, going to the movies and love learning new things to do on my computer.
My children and grandchildren are my greatest enjoyment and I try to spend as much time as I can with them.
I love my volunteer work teaching intellectually handicapped people how to cook and helping them to become more independent. This activity is the highlight of my week. I just love it.
I also belong to a volunteer Computer Group which teaches seniors in our community how to use computers. We help them to access the internet and show them how to email etc. I really enjoy this work and find it very satisfying introducing our senior citizens to this modern technology.

I am not particularly fond of housework
and I really don't like driving in busy traffic.

I once could put my hand to most crafts but my eyesight it not what it was and I do very little now. I still do general sewing and knitting and crocheting in the winter months.
I usually make knee rugs that I give away to charity and to my friends. I am still doing some at present but it is starting to get too hot so I will probably put it away until it gets cooler.
I guess the computer now takes up most of my leisure time as well as corresponding with all the wonderful friends I have met on The Hill.
