I Meant To Do My Work Today

I meant to do my work today,
But a brown bird sang in the apple tree,
And a butterfly flitted across the field,
And all the leaves were calling me.
And the wind went sighing over the land,
Tossing the grasses to and fro,
And a rainbow held out its shining hand,
So what could I do but laugh and go?

I do love most things. Earlier in the year was ill but now can eat a lot of the things I used to...gotta stay away from fatty stuff...but I do indulge sometimes. all things in moderation!! Love my cappuccino and toasted raisin bread.

love my elderly parents who are still fit and active.
I live in Ballarat, which is about 1 1/2 hours from Melbourne, in the central highlands of Victoria. We have cool winters, with snow at times,(not enough to stay) beautiful autums (Fall), as Ballarat is full of trees. Our summers can be hot but are not too bad (indoors with airconditioning!). Spring is lovely, as spring is everywhere. The population is about 90 Thousand. Ballarat was founded on gold, we have lots of beautiful heritage buildings. Soveriegn Hill is here, an 1800's gold rush theme park. It is like walking back in time to go and visit there.
I still miss my lovely companions of 17 years - Scamp and Tuppy. Not a day goes by without my thinking of them. Such strong little characters - they left a great hole in my heart when they passed away. I have a large portrait of them above my desk and look up at them often and think of all the wonderful times we had. No other being has touched me as these two lovely souls did.

I love my three granddaughters, my friends, my garden, people who smile back, beauty, niceness, peace and quiet sometimes, music, books,my own company at times...and of course my computer...a bit of retail therapy once in awhile (window shopping is cheaper!) I also like taking photos. Had a Canon SLR but it died. Now have a small 'point and shoot' Panasonic Lumix, .
I Like butterflies too...

As I sit here contemplating my garden this evening,
I watch bubbles chasing each other around the pond
Droplets from the fountain trying to catch them.
Rainbow colours shining through domes of water,
As the sun caresses the rippling surface.
The sparrows have arrived for their daily bath.
Disturbing the calmness of the tinkling streams,
Chattering and splashing
Shaking and fluffing feathers.
Flying off to their evening tree to sleep.
