All the 'oldies'..Gone with the Wind, Sound of Music, Doctor Zhivago, The Last of the Mohicans, Dances with Wolves, Beaches, Deanna Durbin movies - have a large VHS collection that I managed to find in the #$%@%$ - they were the first movies I loved watching as a child when we first got TV. Guess Who's Coming to Dinner (& any of Sidney Poitier's!), The Colour Purple, Roots, Zulu, Pay it Forward, Forrest Gump, Cry Freedom, (as awful that this goes on...Blood Diamond), Meet the Fockers/Meet the Parents/Fawlty Towers!!! The Notebook,.more..but can't think of them all just now!
TV favourites were The Waltons, Little House on the Prairie, Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman, Touched by an Angel, Lonesome Dove, Picket Fences, Judging Amy, Now... Everwood, Gilmore Girls, Desperate Housewives, Brothers & Sisters, Medium, (Past Australian: mini-series Brides of Christ - really brought back memories of those years - Naomi Watts was one of the cast, Macleod's Daughters, Love My Way, Dancing with the Stars, It Takes Two (singing version of dancing); SBS & ABC docos such as Foreign Correspondent, Dateline, Landline etc. Plus I also like watching your NBC Today/GMA to keep up with what's going on over there...mainly for the news & World News on SBS.
Australian news is too parochial! But, most of the TV shows I watch on DVD..can't stand ads!! Plus, just simply don't have the time in the ratings periods to watch anything!

Nearly everything...except 'head-banging/rap'...I've really tried to listen to some..but...no.And not really into jazz. Elvis, Neil Diamond, Cat Stevens, Nana Mouskouri, Demis Roussos, ABBA, Boney M, Il Divo, Andrea Bocelli, Linda Ronstadt, classical, guitar, country, gospel, Latin, Hungarian gypsy. All the oldies like The Platters, Righteous Brothers etc. Plus, I once heard Pink sing "Bobby McGee"...fantastic! Too many to name!

All books are wonderful! More later.

Autumnal/earthy colours, most shades of green, maroon/marone, black, most colours/colors really...depends on mood & for what purpose.

Hungarian, Italian, Mexican, French, mild Indian. But, often, pretty basic, simple healthy food...In the past..roasts cooked by my best school friend's mother on a Sunday back in the 60's/70's as well as all of my grandmother's Hungarian meals. Any meal cooked by anyone other than myself....even though I love cooking/trying different things. My absolute favourite meals at present are..Osso Bucco with polenta, split pea & ham soup & homemade bread. Love avocadoes (lucky as we have a tree that's bursting with them & definitely tastier than any bought ones & it was only a seedling!!) Chocolate, coffee & lemon gelati. Tuna patties. BBQ chicken. Not big on red meat unless in a casserole or schnitzel. Camp oven meals cooked in coals. Cheese.

:)
Hi, Everyone! So sorry for not having visited for so long but, after daughter's wedding, my new grandson arrived 3 wks early & life has just sped by! Also just helped her family move house 2 wks ago.

But, we just confronted our worst nightmare on Sunday night. Our nursery, packing sheds, pine plantations (our super!) went up in flames. We saved ourselves & cabin, woodworking shed, maintenance shed, sawmill, tractors, other vehicles & our sweetcorn crop & fuel tanks!!! All were under overhead sprinklers close to our cabin. There is an eerie silence...much wildlife dead...so sad. Some of our friends & neighbours lost their homes & sadly, 2 lost their lives. The speed of these fires were so fast. We may have fared better but for a change in wind direction. It's very scary to confront a wall of orange flames coming towards you & all you have is prayer, hose in hand & overhead sprinklers!! And, it's the first time I've felt so calm...there was no time for panic. But it's devastating to see all the destruction & loss of life both human & animal.

I hope to get back to the site one day soon...but, there's a lot of clearing up to do & restore our drinking water but, it's still burning up in the gully where we get our water.

The worst part of all...not being able to let our families & friends know we were OK. We lost power on the Sat night with the first fire that missed us & then the phone just prior to Sunday's. We only saw another human face on Monday afternoon our neighbours in the CFA. They honestly thought they wouldn't see ours but, we did survive thank God!

Power & phones were restored yesterday...we did have a generator to keep out fridges & freezers going & had a plentiful supply of batteries for the radio. Thank God for our national broadcasters..the ABC...don't know what we would do without them! And, all the wonderful offers of help....unbelievable!

Bye from a very relieved Sprinklers xo

My husband & I have run a mail-order tree nursery in our winter months for 27 yrs.(me only 23 yrs) Always look forward to our summer...even if it means we're on bush/wild fire alerts.
More later!

I'm trying to get this profile done but keep getting interrupted by business calls! & memory dumps! :) (Plus, this is a pretty good excercise in realising how much one has to be grateful for & what wonderful people there are in the world!)
But, my biggest love are naturally my 5 children, 2 step-children, 3 grandchildren (2 born/1 due!), my sponsored child, my husband & our cabin. Trees. Nature. Hills. Lakes. Most animals. Wind chimes. Friendly, genuine, caring people. Music. Laughter. Thomas Kinkade calendars/books/art. Art by Richard Burns, Terry Redlin, Peter Ellenshaw, Darrell Bush, Stephen Lyman & Egidio Antonaccio just to name a few! Winter fires & cooking in the wood fire oven in winter. The stars on a clear night. Oceans..even though I very rarely get to see them living inland! Canada. And, even though I was born in Australia, my heart has a very soft spot for Hungary. Soccer. AFL (AUS). Cuckoo clocks. Watching the Olympics-summer & winter ones. Listening to ABC (NO ads!) radio talback especially in the early hours of the morning when I can't sleep. Keeping up with/caring about what's going on in the rest of the world & to our fellow human beings. And....kiva.org, Habitat for Humanity, World Vision, Red Cross, Salvation Army & all the organisations that make the world a better place...all deserve medals!

My smoking!!/smoke-filled rooms. Rudeness, self-importance, racism, intolerance, cruelty, short-temperedness/aggro (even though I certainly suffer from that afflication on occasions!)The UN at the moment! Snakes...lost 3 gorgeous Maremmas to them! (tried putting a sad smileycon but only a long html script comes up?) Milk or butter.

At the moment computers & learning html...next css etc! It takes up most of my time. Bookworm! Crosswords. Jigsaws. I have a cupboard full of wool to eventually do some knitting/crochet! Oh, to retire!! I've done tapestry & longstitch in the past. I once even did a pretty reasonable sketch of my husband when he was 35. Cooking. Would love to try pyrography as my husband is a fanatical woodworker..his woodworking shed is bigger than the cabin!
