Fried Green Tomatoes, Strangers in Good Company

Classical...Country...Worship...Sixties, (which I grew up on)
Victorian Nature

By LaWana Blackwell, Jane Kirkpatrick

A VINTAGE HALLOWEEN POEM

THE GHOST OF A FLOWER

"You're what?" asked the common or garden spook
Of a stranger at midnight's hour.
And the shade replied with a graceful glide,
"Why, I'm the ghost of a flower."

"The ghost of a flower?" said the old-time spook;
"That's a brand-new one on me;
I never supposed a flower had a ghost,
Though I've seen the shade of a tree."

A Few Thanksgiving recipes Victorian Style:
Thanksgiving Pudding

Beat the yolks of four eggs; add one pint of soft bread crumbs, one cup of sugar, the grated rind of a lemon, one teaspoonful of salt, and one cup of large table raisins from which the seeds have been removed; mix all together thoroughly, then add one quart of rich milk.
Bake in a very moderate oven until firm in the center. When the pudding has cooled somewhat, beat the whites of four eggs dry; beat in half a cup of sugar and spread or pipe the meringue over the pudding; dredge with granulated sugar and let cook in a very moderate oven about fifteen minutes; the oven should be of such heat that the meringue does not color until the last few minutes of cooking.

Thanksgiving helps me remember Mom and Dad and the many family gatherings from when I was a child. Of course I have had good Thanksgiving memories since I have had my own home,but I never want to forget the "Home Sweet Home" days!
I hope my Thanksgiving page helps you to remember yours!

I am 62 years old and have been married to the same fine man for 43 years.

PhotobucketI am a retired Payroll Specialist from the Public School System and I have been retired for seven years already. We have become “Snow Birds”. We got tired of shoveling snow in Central Oregon and bought an RV lot in Arizona. The weather here is great from September,when we arrive,right through to the following April or May, when we go back to Central Oregon for the summer months. Only in America! We can spend the summer in the cooler climate and the winter in the warmer one. I never dreamed my retirement years would offer such choices. I am truly blessed.

Things Victorian! Which may be one reason I love to Crochet... I especially like to work with thread rather than yarn. Here are a few of my completed Victorian Ladies. ( If the slide.com screen comes up,just click the "X" in the upper right corner and my slideshow will continue)

I also like Dogs (I have a new baby named Buddy, He's precious!) Well, actually I LOVE dogs!

I also love long talks with my daughter....movie night with hubby...how I feel with a fresh perm and haircut...Starbucks Frappachino (keeps my weight up,LOL)

People who try to elevate themselves by stepping on others... So called "action" movies with BLEEP language and lots of killing...snakes I don't see, can't be to careful in AZ...most sea food...movies without a good plot...gossipy people

You have a very pretty page. You sound like you have your hands full with 2 young babys but I am sure you make the time for them. They are so Lucky that you are there to help out in raising them. My mom use to take in foster kids all so and I loved it till they had to leave. I was real young, I think I was around 12 but I still remember them and mom had a couple of the girls that would come by and visit with her after they had grown into adults. Wishing your family a safe and very happy holidays.  Ponnette
