Blog Entry: I love Christmas Carols in November, I love the pretty lights, christmas trees shining in the windows, and the hush of a snow covered morning with the mechanical reindeer scattered about on the lawns in our little town. I love hearing something positive on the news and television, like coverage of the parades, the Christmas Angel Trees, upcoming Christmas movies and chocolate and cookies and gingerbread men! And I love the anticipation of festivities that bring people and families together! Oh, and the smiles! People seem to smile even more during the Holiday season! I am worn out from all the doom and gloom that has unfortunately become more and more of a daily part of our lives. Everything from the war and terrorists, to economics, foreclosures, bankrupties, failing companies and job loss, to meth addicts, gangs and crime. So many things to bring us down. The holiday season just couldn't come soon enough for me. I think this year even more so then many others before, we need something pretty, something hopeful, and something sparkly and fun! I don't care about the commercial aspect. If buying or making a present and giving to someone makes them smile and feel special for even a short time, then let it be. I giggle as I find or create the perfect gift! Even something simple as a graphic on my computer! I know that all the bad things are still going on, but a little bandaid for the soul doesn't hurt anyone and I think a lot of people could use a little bit of heart touching right now. I love scurrying about The Hill and looking at the pages all decorated for Christmas. I think of the person decorating and smiliing as the background first appears when they click "submit" and the searches for something new to add to their page and the excitement they feel when they find it, and the anticipation of how others will feel when they visit! I see people creating and sharing graphics, helping and teaching one another, praying for each other, and having fun! Even though we all take part in the commercial part of Christmas, most of us still know the Reason for the Season. And I for one am glad to spread the joy in any way I can, even if it is commercial... it still is good and makes for some soul lifting. Nothing wrong with that, no matter what your beliefs are. Making someone smile or feel happy.. such a beautiful gift for the baby Jesus! And the scrooges make me laugh so! Because, I bet most of the self proclaimed scrooges already have their page all decorated! And this has me grinning from ear to ear! Now, isn't it wonderful that a little bit of scrooge can make me feel good too! Isn't life grand!!
