My Friend Bill
Posted On 11/06/2020 21:41:12 by kiwibarb
Today something set me thinking about Bill, a friend who died 20 years ago. I’ve had a lot of friends and relatives called Bill, many of whom have died. It was a popular name in New Zealand, and still is, but they’re called William now.
This particular friend was known as Billy the Bus, due to his job as a bus driver, to distinguish him from others bearing the same name. Long after his retirement the nickname remained.
Eventually Bill met our ultimate fate, and his funeral was held... Read More

EST Moments
Posted On 07/04/2020 12:16:21 by texasjane
I thought I was going to add something to the "sweet" column of my "EST" listings. I had added a few after getting home from the er and getting my electric back on and of course the snake round up. Then I glance over as I hear Sweet Pea coming into the office. I spot Oscar scampering in behind her.Sweet Pea stopped just before coming through the door. When they are working on a project together. Some are ranchers, working together to drive cattle from one feeding area to another, or loading th... Read More

Our Outhouse Is Gone! (TBT)
Posted On 02/19/2020 21:09:15 by yourchoice
Have you heard about our garden shed? I did write a blog about it long ago, but because of recent conversations, I decided to post a “Throwback Thursday” edition of that blog, with an update. To explain about my husband’s 2012 winter project, the idea came when we visited a farm antique center in northern California. They were selling garden tool sheds that were made of old barnwood and looked like outhouses. Cute! When we arrived home, our septic system was frozen and we were without facil... Read More

It's All About The Stampede
Posted On 07/06/2018 21:45:01 by yourchoice
Today is the start of the 106th annual Calgary Exhibition and Stampede. It is now a 10-day event, starting with a huge parade. My parents would take me downtown to watch the parade, and a visit to the Exhibition. In elementary school, my teacher emphasized handwriting and would select some of our examples to compete in the Exhibition. I remember the first time I went to an afternoon Infield Rodeo event with my Dad. He knew a lot about the life of a cowboy because he had been a cattle driver befo... Read More
