Coronation Street Stage Show
Posted On 03/31/2013 03:01:30 by kiwibarb
A bus arrived at my gate at 11am this morning, bound for Auckland City, where the Coronation Street Stage show was being performed. For the uninitiated, Coronation Street is Britain’s longest running soap, and its 50 years is being celebrated with this live show. Only one member of the original cast is still in it, and he’s 80 years old. I haven’t always followed the TV show. I took a huge break of about 30 years somewhere in the middle, and picked it up again about a decade ago. I now ne... Read More

ENTERTAINMENT Of the 50's
Posted On 12/19/2011 15:05:23 by Notgrnyyet

We didn't really have much for entertainment in the 40's and 50's. At least we didn't where I lived in Denning Arkansas. No i pods, smart phones, email, digital games, color TV, really no nothing but good clean fun of our own making. The show house was on the corner next to the Okla. Tire and Supply and on the next corn... Read More

Jersey Boys

I am trying to catch up after travelling to Sydney to see the Jersey Boys, the story of the four Seasons.  The bus picked me up in front of my home at 7.10 on Wednesday morning.  I didn't sleep well the night before so I dozed a lot on the way up.  The last pickup was at 8.45.   We got to Burrill Lake at about 10 am for a cup of tea/coffee and toilet stop.  In Australia most people drink tea not coffee.  By 12 mid day we were in Wollongong and we had lunch at t... Aviation Nation & Cockpits

Every Year in mid November our local Air Force Base has their homecoming for the Thunderbirds.  This is a two day event titled “Aviation Nation.”  Sure I am a woman getting up in years but nothing and I do mean nothing stops me from attending at least one of the two days.  I enjoy every aspect of the event as much as any man.  Naturally the highlight is the air show the Thunderbirds put on towards the end of the day. I am sure there are those of you who are fortunate eno... Read More

The Coward

A quivering mass of frail humanity, she snuggled into the blankets. And then suddenly threw them back and leapt out of bed. Shaking in the cold July morning, she fumbled for the elusive light switch, and padded to the door to wrench her dressing gown off its hook. Today was the Dreaded Day. Today was the day she had to face her fate. The sword of Damocles was poised above her, its descent imminent and unavoidable, Squirming in her gown to get warm, she made for the bathroom and turned the showe... Read More
