Growing up on 'The Farm on The Fifth' provided me with a slightly different type of childhood than that experienced by most of my contemporaries.
Our nearest neighbours and closest associates were bachelor and widower farmers, ensuring a closer affiliation with wrenches, screwdrivers and butcher knives, than crochet hooks or knitting needles.
Hydraulic systems on tractors took precedent to sewing machines much to the despair of my Grandma Nell.
