A Tale of the Toasted Buns – A Throwback
Posted On 03/26/2020 05:10:37 by yourchoice
My mother's family were of German decent, with several major moves in their history. There are few details of her grandparent's move from Germany to southern Russia, during the reign of Catherine The Great, but we were told of the importance of the toasted buns which were, and still are, a special treat. In preparation for their long journey, they believed that to stay healthy, it was importance to bring a supply of drinking water with them as well as an abundance of homemade buns, toasted so th... A Bit of Christmas Music
Posted On 12/16/2019 21:20:00 by yourchoice
Here I am again... having extra time on my 'puter this week. Music fills our home... and Christmas gives us special favorites. Today I was reminded of a tradition in my home many years ago. My parents and I sang in a church choir, and Christmas was the time to enjoy the annual concert of Handle's 'Messiah', performed in the city's best known concert hall. Christmas has come and gone, and hopefully all of you have a fresh stash of pleasant memories. Hopefully, there will be more time for “computer fun” now. I am continuing on my personal A-Z Blog Challenge with this episode. We all have our particular traditions of celebration, and 2016 Christmas took on a new form for us. Our celebrations continued for more than two weeks, and we enjoyed every minute of it, starting with the arrival of two families, relatives of my husband, from northern Engla... Read More

It's all about Surprises!
Posted On 11/04/2014 21:31:58 by yourchoice
We received an Evite today from our daughter-in-law, telling us that she is planning a surprise birthday party for her husband... our son! He will be 50 years old in December. My first thought was, "Wait a minute. I'm not old enough to have a 50-year-old son!" But when I counted on my fingers (and toes), I realized that she was right. I AM old enough! It got me thinking about surprise parties that have occurred in our family, and a flood of memories entertained me all afternoon. I don't recall an... Read More
