This is in response to the "chicken with it's head cut off", knee jerk reaction, to the bad stuff (Arizona, political idiocy, etc) the media "makes a Mountain out of a molehill".
First what you need to know is the "news" by definition, reports the "out of the ordinary." And we... yes you & I, have allowed them to go "tabloid" by spending our hard earned dollars on their "tabloidism"... So how many people were at the event?... how many people were in that town?... How many people were in that state?... How many criminals were involved in the perpetration,...one. This is a 1 in 100 million event. So the time to really be worried is when the news no longer makes a big deal out of an extraordinary event... that would only mean it is now the normal course of events, instead. You are going to drive yourself crazy if you don't put things in perspective.
I applaud President Obama on ignoring the perpetrator & spending all that time, on glorifying the lives & deeds & aspirations of the victims. & imploring people to please think twice & try to resolve conflict in a calm, humane, & civil manor. We will never be rid of the mentally imbalanced, & Monday morning quarterbacking isn't solving anything, either. We have to look forward & be an EXAMPLE of civil mediation, & hope that it influences those around us to stop & try to do the same.
Yes USA is ONE of the greatest countries on Earth, there are so many more that are right up there with us; Canada, Australia, England, Germany, & yes even India & China... just to name an extreme few; and if you stop & take a breath & exhale... you will see these bad guys are in the extreme minority... EXTREME MINORITY... The squeaky wheel gets the grease... It is the rest of us who are the power ones, who keep this & all the other great nations... well... great!!! We ARE a "Global Community", & we can't sit still long enough to realize that... It isn't we & them anymore;... & it hasn't been for decades... & since the advent of the World Wide Web we never will be, again. This planet IS a global community. And that involves understanding the other guys culture & understanding where they are coming from, also.
You are giving the bad guys way tooooo much power... STOP IT.... You & I & the rest of us, have the power... not them... YES, they did a horrific bad thing.... BUT they did NOT take our power... nor can they... WE won't let them.... We will never be able to totally eradicate all bad guys, so stop wasting your time wishing it... But we have something they don't, we can pick ourselves up, repair the damage the best we can, & learn from it. Unfortunately, we will never be able to stop the lessons from happening,... but that is what life actually, IS.
People need to sit still & listen as we breath in & breath out... or count to 10... before we go stark, staring, barking mad, over something we will, nor can, ever have control of... BUT we do have control over how we react to it,... yes, reaction IS a choice.
My choice is to ponder it out, then see what I can do to turn things around, & try to make suggestions, to make this world a better place. This is the only planet we have, there is not just ONE way to live on it. So I wish to see an amalgamation of ideas, instead of fighting about one idea instead another idea.
2011 is the start of a new decade... I am so hoping it will finally be, a decade of cooperation, inspiration, innovation, & enlightenment.
