(P) Just going too far

(P) Is there no end to political correctness??

Ya know, in my mind, this takes the cake. I have to wonder if this will ever stop. This should actually be funny, but understanding the thinking behind it just makes me furious.

Seattle school renames Easter eggs 'Spring Spheres'

A sophomore at a local private high school thinks an effort to make Easter politically correct is ridiculous.

Jessica, 16, told KIRO Radio's Dori Monson Show that a week before spring break, the students commit to a week-long community service project. She decided to volunteer in a third grade class at a public school, which she would like to remain nameless.

"At the end of the week I had an idea to fill little plastic eggs with treats and jelly beans and other candy, but I was kind of unsure how the teacher would feel about that," Jessica said.

She was concerned how the teacher might react to the eggs after of a meeting earlier in the week where she learned about "their abstract behavior rules."

"I went to the teacher to get her approval and she wanted to ask the administration to see if it was okay," Jessica explained. "She said that I could do it as long as I called this treat 'spring spheres.' I couldn't call them Easter eggs."

Rather than question the decision, Jessica opted to "roll with it." But the third graders had other ideas.

"When I took them out of the bag, the teacher said, 'Oh look, spring spheres' and all the kids were like 'Wow, Easter eggs.' So they knew," Jessica said.

The Seattle elementary school isn't the only government organization using spring over Easter. The city's parks department has removed Easter from all of its advertised egg hunts.

I was in B.J.s this week and while there checked out Christmas cards etc.  What I saw stopped me dead in my tracks - there was a section of cards for, quote "Winter Events" unquote.  Sorry, but that's just going too far.

Sorry for the belated comment.  But I don't like "political correctness"...not one bit.  Who started it in the first place?  What concerns me most are those that accept it.

We are a diverse country (world) in many ways, and we have to find a way to make peace with our differences.  I remember, way back when I was a student In my school, the teachers took time to acknowledge the celebration days of cultures/religions of the kids in my particular classroom.  The kids explained their own and the teachers came correctly prepared to help clarify if needed,,,just the basics and not lengthy or time consuming.   It brought understanding and tolerance among us.  It did not "divide".  It did not imply one was right, or others were wrong.   In this case, Easter and the traditional Easter Egg Hunt is fun, and I'm sure did not exclude non-Christian kids, or kids of aethiests..nor did the "hunt" even attempt to preach doctrine or religious beliefs associated with the word "Easter".  "Easter Egg Hunt" is historical, too.  Leave the name of it alone.

Extremism, in anything, is what causes serious problems among all people.   Jesus was a "teacher" to those who chose to listen...not an "enforcer".  Most of the 10 commandments are simply the right thing to do, or not do, no matter what your religious beliefs.  Followers follow  anything, or anybody, for a variety of reasons...one of those reasons should NOT be because of fear, or because they don't have a choice.  Maybe this is one of the reasons that PROPER RESPECT is lacking in so many people and places today.

Well Im new at this but after reading this I have to say whats on my mind, I love Jesus and wear ever I go or do Hes thair with me, I dont much care what the none belivers say, I faught in nam for my rights and Im keeping them, Didnt Jesus say if you are ashamed of me I to will be of you to the Father. This isnt a quote but close. When Jesus hang thair on the cross after he was beaten, handed a sponge full of vinger to dring knowin how much that would have burned in those wondes, He still looke to the Father and said Father forgive them they dont know what thair doing, Thats LOVE, Easter belongs to Jesus This was His day To restore the world, May God forgive the ones that try to take that away from him and fill them with the holey gost and then they too will know He Lives. Praise God!!!!!

Spring spheres....I'm sorry, it's just ridiculous! Political Correctness may have it's place but taking the enjoyment out of life should not be tolerated...just my opinion of course and being politically carolyn!!!

Spring spheres, huh? Political correctness has gone overboard. Christmas holidays is Happy Holidays in some places.

Other cultures and other religions have their special 'celebration' times, I'll bet they don't have to disguise their aspects as something else. What else would you call a minorah?

Easter eggs have been Easter eggs for so long, why change it now. Makes you wonder what they'll do to Christmas next! It wouldn't do where I live, fancy having spring spheres in autumn!
