Some years ago, I had a male black and tan Dachshund named Amos. He was a beautiful dog and only 2 years old at the time of this incident. I had my heart set on having him mated so that I could have one of his puppies. I guess you need to be careful what you wish for and how you go about obtaining that dream as the following incident happened as a result of this quest of mine.
One day, my mom and I were at the vet with Amos. There were several other people in the office, with their pets, waiting to be seen when a man came walking in with his dog. I overheard him to say to the receptionist that his dog was a 2 year old female dapple Dachshund. Well, my ears perked up, and I thought to myself, here is my big chance to get Amos a girlfriend. Mom was holding Amos and seen me get up and go over to the man and ask him, "Are you interested in mating?" My mom almost dropped Amos and started to laugh, along with everyone else in the room. The man just looked at me with a stunned expression. I finally added that I was talking about his dog! lol Anyway, he said that he was on the road a lot and wouldn't be able to have her mated. Amos was so disappointed and went up to the female and kissed her. I said, "Oh Amos, I tried." The vet said later that the man has never returned to the office again. By the look on that man's face, he must of thought I was really desperate and very forward! lol What you won't do for your dog!!!!
