EMOM'S MOUNTAIN NEWS

2012-8-15

Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home.

Get your buns out here on the porch...grab a seat, coffee and some snacks! Been a while, I know but the Feds have been keeping me busy and more than a little depressed.  Almost broke me this time and I don't mean money.

SocSec finally came up with a legible/comprehensible letter... According to them, I owe them $64.  Does that number sound at all familiar?  Lolol   Seems like I had a go round with the same numbers last year.

The latest... Bobbi either has the flu or a really bad cold.  Anna, as usual, is running her legs off.  Anna's dog had to be taken to the vet... Either snake bite or a bite from a ‘possum.  Big fight between the two.  Anyway, that's a 40 mile trip, one way.

We had a couple of beautiful cool days recently.  El came up to mow my lower field. Anna was busy waiting for sumfin or other at their place so I said I would babysit with El while he mowed.  (That field is very rough in some places) Better I keep an eye out than to have sumfin bad happen when nobody is there to help.. The Lilyputz came out to keep me company while I was sitting on Tildy's gate.

Had a good time sitting there in the cool.  Hadn't been able to stay outside for the longest time.  Now, me being me, and knowing better.  I went out with no bug spray or sun screen. (It was cloudy) How bout within two days I was covered with red itchy bumps?!?  Sheesh!  Now, ask me if I am still itching??????

Oh, do I have a comfy goody!  The last time Gcutter took me to the store, I stopped at the Dollar store.  I found a pair of men's camo jammy bottoms. (Cotton knit)  Wowser... they fit, not too expensive and as comfy as anybody could want.  I got a pair of ‘city', a pair of ‘navy' and I have ordered a couple of pair of what they call ‘brown'.  I'll consider them my ‘dress up' pants cause they don't have any paint on them yet.  Lolol

And weatherwise?  I wasn't too sure I was gonna survive the heat and the being kept indoors.  Into the 100's some days, humids were a gazillion percent.  And then there are the biting bugs wandering around.

Another thing... I have deer droppings on the driveway.  Others have seen my mamma mountain lion and her cub.  This is a good thing.  I now have semi-proof that I wasn't imagining things. Lolol The ‘mountain telegraph' (rumor) is broadcasting the info that the Feds have been dropping a couple of puma in some of the deeper hollers.  They, the Feds, did the same thing with bears.  We've had to put down a couple of bears in the last month.  Drought is driving them into civilized parts of the mountains.  Trust me, these are very wild animals and very dangerous.

The drought has brought the deer to the front yard and driveway.  Water in the little pond, even tho awfully warm, is still drinkable.

And then, there's the explosions....  I've had two up here on the mountain within the last month.  General consensus is that meth labs are blowing up.  One event occurred a/a 2330 hours and the second a/a 1730 hours.  And NO, it wasn't my imagination.  I wish!!!

I don't understand this part, but it seems as tho the meth makers put the mixin's in a pop bottle, throw the bottles out of moving vehicle, let the sun do its work and then go back to collect the meth.  That is, if it didn't blow up in the mean time.

I've missed my flyguys/gals.  Very few contrails and only one flash about a month ago.  I feel so bad about losing them.

Well, Brats, I guess that's it for the time being.  Take care, go in safety always.  Remember to take care of our Mother Earth.  She is all we have.

Many hugs, much love... and lots of laffter... meems
