EMOM'S MOUNTAIN NEWS
Friday
Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home.
I'm tearing my hair out again! Look out wig department here I come. Sheesh, can you believe the phones here in my area are not working properly? Oh yeah... Marv tried to call me last nite at least 3 times. Phone didn't ring at my end at all. So the Marv emailed for me to call him! Oh dear! Lolol What a brat!
Anyway, I talked to my good friend at the phone company this morning. She tells me there are numerous calls attempting to reach people in our phone area. Company is working on it.....
Then, I talked to LJ for a while. I guess it's been a year since we've chatted. He said he's been doing some fishing and has managed to NOT fall in the river... Yeah, Right...
We swapped some critter tales while we were at it... He has mountain lion and wolves out there in Iowa. Well, I have wolves, coyotes and mountain lion here in the mountains. Does that mean I am one ahead?
And Jake tells me the corn crops and the soy beans are in bad shape from the drought. But he does have a bumper apple crop... Now, just how did he do that??? The apples, that is.
I had a gazillion blossoms this spring...Peach...black cherry... white cherry and pears. Every darned one of them had blossoms. I had bees all over the place doing their jobs. And then, and then, we had two late freezes which wiped out all the possible fruit! Ratz!
Then, yesterday, I told y'all about Peach Blossom, my little girl skunk. Stormy invading the house with eau de skunke all over her prompted me to talk about her.
I wouldn't mind having another skunk. They are the neatest little critters... easily house broken. And Peaches at least, would do anything to be able to sink her teeth into a black cherry or the chocolate ice cream. Lolol Another thing, I never had to worry about feeding her. She made herself at home the first day. Discovered the 50 lb bag of dried dog food and helped herself. LOLOL She was a con artist tho... and she certainly knew how to manipulate John, my now ex. LOLOL
He would sit at the kitchen counter, watch t.v. and generally do nothing when he got home. Well, Peach would wake up around 1830 hours and head for the kitchen. She eat some and drink some water. And then she would head for John.
She would grab his shoe string and tug on it... trying to get his attention. No response from John. Peaches would then sit up on her haunches to paw at his shoe. Still no response. In a final effort to get his attention, she would reach up with her paws and teeth... get a hold on his socks and almost strip him bare. This show would go on every evening without fail. The whole family would crack up!
John would finally reach down, pick her up to hold her. She would lay over his arm, nose stuck thru his armpit and promptly go to sleep. Lol
Back then, when I still lived in the city, I would sometimes escape the stress of city living by playing an album of wolf songs... and with a mild whiff of skunk, I would be transported heart and soul to the peace of the wild woods. Now, I have access to my ‘heaven' anytime day or nite and it is wonderful.
Take care all of mine... go in safety always. Remember that sometimes good things happen when we least expect them...Oh yeah!
Many hugs, much love and lots of laffter every day. Meems
