Winter is Over

I dug deep in this winter as I pulled out my crocheted covers and soft blankets. My books were dusted off and arranged carefully on many side tables. The cabinets were full of hot chocolate mix and a steaming pot of soup boiled on the stove. I moved from window to window looking and longing for the first snow flake. Time came and went with only a few dustings of snow. Finally, our one deep snow arrived in its entire white angelic splendor. I snuggled beneath my blanket with thick socks to warm my feet. The heater ran over time and blasted warm air throughout the cold house. Snow plows ran four at a time and their sound was like music to my ears. The snow lasted only a few days but it was my glory, my satisfaction of comfy and pleasure. That season has passed like a dying friend and I morn at its lost. My heart longs for it like a passion of undying love. I am assured my love will return in short eight months.

Signs of spring appeared with a glimmer of rain showers to prove its existence, flowers to tease the most sensual being. But alas spring was almost an apparition it seemed because hot weather stormed in with thunder and lightning and tornados.  Temperatures have reached the high eighties and legally summer has not arrived.

It is most disconcerting to run the car heater in the early hours and the air in the afternoon.  My closet is like a maze with winter attire on one side and summer on the other.

The car windows are open wide and the fresh air flows in with fingers that lift strand of hair into my eyes. Then a sneeze pops out as I grab onto the steering and I know allergy season is in full bloom out there.  I will get acclimated in this summer rush and find normal and fun things that can only be done in hot weather.  For instance, picking blackberries, going on picnics, going on nature hikes. Yes you can do all but picking blackberries in all of the seasons however in the autumn and winter I prefer to snuggle up with my love.

Hello there we haven't heard from you in a while.  So now I know where you have been you have been like the little winter animals who tunnel in their burrows and watch the snow. and come out and leave their little tracks all around so we know they are there.

I like you was disappointed in our winter here not very much snow and our one predicted deep snow never arrived the most we got was about 6 inches.  But like you I watched it out my window so pristene and beautiful.  I enjoy all the seasons thats why I stay in Ohio. your blog was so beautifuly crafted, I could picture everything you shared.  Well done my friend. !

The only thing I don't like about winter is the fact my husband, Papa Allen, has to go out and move the snow and, even though, he has plenty of warm clothing and boots, etc., he still comes home very cold. Other than that winter isn't too bad.

I don't mind going out and crunching in the snow and feel the coldness; just don't want to be left out there! BUT my favorite time of year is when the temps are around the 60 - 70 degree mark; spring and fall. I love working outside in those temps. Anything much above 70 is too warm to work for me.

But I can still handle the heat, without working in it, as long as there isn't any humidity. That stuff is a killer for me and I need to stay inside with the AC and feel like a prisoner again!

Winter will be back before you know it, Ella!
