Songs in my head during a crazy time in 2020
Posted On 08/18/2020 16:09:56 by momtocam

Recently, I have found myself waking up (most mornings) in the last few weeks with a tune playing in my head. Consequently, these songs were from my younger days. Some have been rock beats..others, a classic country melody....and even a few Ozzy hits from the 80’s. I tend to think the younger child inside of me is tapping my shoulder to remind me of days gone by. Days when my only care in the world was meeting up with friends, or simply deciding on what I would order with a hamburger down at the local diner.

It’s almost hard to fathom the current times we are living in now. But we seemingly witness more of it during an election year.  I quit watching the news. My blood pressure thanks me often. I’ve gotten much done out in my yard. It’s certainly therapeutic, not only physically, but mentally as well. Something many of us could use now. My husband and I have been taking more *mini* trips locally on the weekends. Two more are already planned and scheduled for this month and next.

It’s times  like these when we most need to feast on the word of God. So when you feel overwhelmed by the burdens of the world, or become so exhausted that even sleep doesn’t feel like enough, cast your cares on HIM. Our tanks will be refilled in abundance as we refresh and renew our souls.

No matter how we find ourselves feeling, we always have the power to make someone else feel better. Just a simple text, phone call, or writing a note to a friend will do wonders for them...and YOU too. Try it and see.

My challenge to you is to let someone know you appreciate them. Do this daily, and I promise you in just a short time, both you and the recipient of your blessings will soon sleep better.

When  I wake up tomorrow, I know another tune will be playing inside my head. Whether it be a song from my childhood...  or one from the rewind mode of my Spotify account,  I’ll quickly smile and thank God for allowing me to be alive. And rather then focusing on the current events of today, I’ll keep appreciating those songs waking me up. But more importantly, to remind me that there is always something to be thankful for.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. –Philippians 4:6-7

Thank you for the lovely thoughts. It is nice to realize that we are not alone. A lot of these soul searching feelings dwell in our hearts and as we lift ourselves to the Lord, we find his peace.

I finally got around to washing and ironing my kitchen curtains today. It took longer than I thought but was well worth it. It is deer hunting season here...16 days of hearing guns go off. I keep saying to myself...run Bambi run. The does and their fawns still come into backyard in the morning for their kibbles of corn. I hope the 'no shooting does' this season is still in effect. I am starting to use my Windows 10 computer tomorrow. Haven't got a clue to a lot of things about it. I looked at it a week ago and said 'this is not for me'! Maybe I will get more housework done-lol! Take care... Shirley

Great post MomtoCam - you are lucky to have songs playing in your head awaking you.  Usually my mind keeps playing a certain diddy of a song when I'm trying to go to sleep - can you say 'it drives me nuts'.  I'd love to have it switched!

Singing is one way in which we express our love towards God with our whole being. We engage every part of our being in worship to God. Every morning when I woke up I'm listening to a Christian songs in You Tube and feel the spirit of God . Music that honors God will cause our hearts to sing. And when our hearts sing, worship happens. We’re transformed on the inside as we’re filled with the Spirit and devote everything we are to worship, praise, and thanksgiving to our heavenly Father.

(Psalm 98:5 ESV)  “Sing praises to the Lord with the lyre, with the lyre and the sound of melody!”

and Psalm 100:2 “Serve the Lord with gladness.  Come into his presence with singing.”

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts my dear friend.  God bless you and the family. Hugs

I think all of us love the music we grew up with best. We live in crazy times now and it will get worse before it gets better. God Bless.

Music is my "saving grace"! I love a wide variety of music... classical, jazz, gospel, country, choral, orchestra... the list goes on. When I have my own space (no audiences), I still love to play the piano but not well now. I have heard in the past the introducing children to music at an early age has many benefits.
The scripture verse that you included is a great reminder... that peace in our hears and minds is available to everyone. Thanks for your posting.
