So today (as I’m penning this writing), it is the official first day of my favorite season. Fall, I am in awe of your arrival. The summer was too long, too warm, and well, you get the picture.
The onset of the Fall season brings so many happy feelings to me. It’s the season when I so enjoy watching nature unravel what summer created. The cool, crisp golden months encompasses much more than just the changing of splendid and beautiful colors on the trees…cooler sweater weather, pumpkin spice flavored everything and cozy nights by the fire. All of these things bring sweet comfort to my fall-loving soul.
On a deeper level, Fall has a way of shifting my focus off of the hectic days that summer seemingly always brings. I tend to reflect on the year I have just walked through…. mentally highlighting the good and not so good moments.
Fall is the season to slow down, settle in and begin a regrouping of what’s truly important. As the leaves continue to fall. I too, begin to let go of bottled up emotions and feelings that somehow get tucked away inside of me. Fall taps me on the shoulder and reminds me to let go and look forward to new beginnings.
This splendid season is here, and I’m glad. I’m already spanning the pages online of the Farmers Almanac to get an idea of how chilly this one will be. My fall-winter wardrobe has been dusted off and is awaiting its turn to be worn.
But first, not too far away, the hubby and I are counting down the days to our mountain getaway to Gatlinburg. It was booked in early June …so now we start checking off that (to do list) before that weekend in October arrives. The mountains and Fall are the perfect pairing of breathtaking beauty. Let’s not forget either all of the pumpkin patches, fall festivals, and hayrides that are in abundance this time of year.
Fall introduces the element of decay, but it is just a part of the cycle of seasons that our lives revolve around. We can celebrate our expansions, allow certain things to fall away, and prepare for our winter’s rest.
