Poor Service
Posted On 07/30/2008 10:55:48 by nana2ten

I need to vent today so here goes my story; Since 1997 I have been connected to the internet beginning with a very slow (18.8 kbps) dialup. I had called Verizon (my only choice) lots of times to see if I could get DSL, just to be told it is not available on your street. October 28, 2004 I decided to work into my budget the cost of cable internet. I was so happy with the speed and thought why did I wait so long to get broadband. Mediacom is my only choice for cable here and everything worked great for about 6 months. In the summer of 2005 my modem started going off. It goes off every day and is off line an hour or more. I have had techs here numerous times during these 3 years. They replaced the modem 3 times, checked my lines under the house and have made all kinds of promises about bringing equipment out of another town to fix problems on a trunk line. They have promised to have a supervisor call me 2 different times and I have never recieved the calls. This computer has been off line as many as 43 times in one month. It never fails to be off when I want to be on. I turn off the computer, the modem, and router, wait several minutes and turn on everything. I do this procedure at least twice a day every day. I was off line this morning for 45 minutes trying to reset everything. I pay a good price for 24 hours a day connection. I think it is sad that service from this company is so poor.

Have a great day and thanks for allowing me to get this out of my system

I didn't have the internet at all until 2002 and had dial-up until a year ago, got broadband last Sept. My service has been better than what you are describing. Last month I increased my broadband allowance because it was only lasting for less than 2 weeks each month. For another $10 a month I now have enough Broadband to last the whole month. NZ is only a small country, but from what I am hearing, we are not so badly off after all. Good luck to you, I think you will have to SHOUT and be heard!!

I am paying for the maximum allowance. I have no other choice because Mediacom offers no other choice. I have shouted and they don't seem to care. They know I have no other option except dial-up. I am not the only customer having problems with them here. It seems they are a company not concerned with their customers. Thanks for your time and caring enough to write.
