Vishing? new scam
Posted On 08/06/2008 08:56:07 by welder4

A new type of Phishing scam is starting to show up on the e-mail route , if you get a e-mail asking you to call a specific number about your account then don't use the number in the e-mail because they will ask you for your account info and then drain your account dry. always go to the web site unassisted by the e-mail do it your self and call the number listed there and explain you have recieved an e-mail; supposedly from them and donot give any of your account information over the phone or through an e-mail it is not the way business works . this new method is called Vishing so be on the look out for this and if you are concerned about it always go to the real web site and find out what the truth is . never ever give your information to an unknown phone number or a e-mail directed web site . Ebay warns us of this kind of thing & so therefore

I've been able to take care of this kind of thing appropriately!!

My mother used to say, think before you speak.

In this instance it is think before you do the wrong thing & are sorry for it.

Yes, I've heard of someone being taken in by this & they are sorry, for it sounded so legamite.

They thought they were replying to the IRS & found out differently.

They were lead to a website where they filled out their information.

They realized later after it was too late, that it wasn't on the up & up.

Beware!!

I don't know how new this scam is but I have gotten several from Paypal (not the real Paypal)  I just forward those emails to spoof@paypal.com   and they investigate and try to get those stopped.  Never click on any email that says your account is not in order.  I went directly to my Pay Pal account and looked to see if there had actually been any recent activity and there had not been.  These people are low life punks.  Do not click on anything within those emails.
