My Life Has Changed
Posted On 03/29/2008 00:50:56 by redondopat1955

My life has completely changed.  I lost my husband of 48 years in December, the day after Christmas.  I am trying to ajust to this new life but it's difficult.  I don't think I'll ever get over it.  I'll just have to learn to live with it somehow.  Those of you who have lost a loved one will know what I mean, I'm sure.

Thanks to all of you who respoded with very kind words. I appreciate it very much.  Like several of you said,  life has to be taken one day at a time and that's what I do.  I also have a very strong faith which keeps me going and two wonderful daughters who are very supportive as well.  They are trying to get past this as well.  They both had a great relationship with their dad and they really miss him. They are both career women and have responsible jobs that keep them busy.  I know that's a big help!

Pat, I've just now noticed this blog and read it.  I'm so sorry, I did not realize you lost your dearly beloved husband the day after Christmas.  What a tough year you have had and Christmas too.  I'm so glad you had the pleasure of your daughters company during these holidays and I hope you can soon move south, maybe be a bit closer to them all the time. Love you sweetie,,,Jean

Oh, yes, I can identify with the way you are feeling.  Even tho it has been almost 20 years since God took my Glen to be with Him; it was in an  instant.  49 years ago yesterday we had our first date & were married that Oct.  My girls were in their early 20s.  We'll always miss him.  "when someone we love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure".  I now live here in CA near one daughter who lives in Venice.  God bless; I know He will; but it IS hard.

It has been a year now since my Husband's passing and I continue to miss him very much.  I guess I always will.  It has proven to be true that one does not get over it but lives with it somehow.

Not Over The Hill has been a big blessing in my life.  I have met a lot of interesting, funny and very nice people on this site.  I hope to meet many more in the future plus keep my connections with those I have already met.

Thanks to all of you for being my friends and to TC and EB for creating this site which connects us all on the world wide web!

Pat, I just read this Blog and cannot imagine what that will be like. Every night I ask God to take the one first who would have the hardest time adjusting to the loss. We have been married 51 years and I know every day is precious, I take nothing for granted, that's for sure. I lost my baby sister May 5th and that was hard enough for now. I will pray that the days get easier for you with time.
