Cats, cats and more cats...I also like dogs but can't look after them anymore. Grand children are good as well, but can't eat a whole one anymore.

The Pot of Gold
While walking all alone, in the quiet woods one day,
I met a little sprite meandering along the way.
"Where do ye go my lassie fair?", the wee man softly cried.
"To find myself a pot of gold," was all that I replied.
"If 'tis your wish and you don't mind". The wee man softly sang,
"I'll walk along this quiet road, with you a little while.
And down along the way, we'll surely meet the local gang,
Together we can all, perhaps, enjoy a little smile."
And sure enough, 'twas not so very, very far along,
There was a sight, the like of which, I'd never really seen.
Three jolly souls sat gladly, singing out their joyful song,
And merrily they all did sing "The Wearing of the Green."
"What is it Lass," the wee man asked, "Ye truly seek to find?
For wealth and gold, ye surely know, can't ease a troubled mind.
The old man of the forest, we'll now both go forth and seek.
Into the path of true contentment, he will let us peek."
To me, these words of wisdom, the old man did truly give.
"There's just one way that you may find a happy life to live.
Seek not the hidden rainbow, child, for it cannot be found.
The pot of gold you now do seek is everywhere around."
"Throughout your long life, firm friendships you will surely find.
Found in those friendships and the love that they will bring to mind,
For those whom you hold close to you, if I may state so bold,
Is more wealth than at the rainbow's end, or in any pot of gold?"
Those words of wisdom shared with me, I took with me away.
And as I walked life's road from then, until this very day.
The gift of love I knew, that if the truth, were to be told,
Is richer than at the rainbow's end or in any pot of gold.
