MUSIC
I have lots of favorites but my number 1 choice is Ode to Joy by Beethoven.
I like the songs we used to listen to in the 50's and 60's by Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. Smoke gets in your eyes, I Believe, and Unchained Melody spring to mind.
I also like Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto in B flat Minor. Debussy's Claire de Lune. The Moonlight Sonata and Fur Elise by Beethoven.
I have just finished reading a book called The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by M.A. Shaffer and A. Barrows. The story is in the form of letters written by a young English woman to friends that she makes on this island, in the English Channel, about their experiences during the Nazi Occupation in World War II. It is still on the Best Seller list but is available in Paperback if you are interested in reading it. It was a interestin story and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

MY FAVORITE FOOD
This is a slide show of Tacoma, Washington. Just a few of the places in the area. Probably the Narrows Bridge is the most remarkable. It collapsed in a wind storm in 1940 and was later rebuilt and another span was erected next to it to handle the heavy traffic
I don’t really have a favorite food. If I get invited out for a meal I think that is great. I do believe all my friend’s and relatives are great cooks. If I did n’t have to cook it myself that’s wonderful. I enjoy seafood, salmon, shrimp and crab. I also love Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding. I like Italian food, Spaghetti, and Lasagna and also like Chinese and Thai. I have eaten Indian cuisine but it tends to be a bit too spicy for me.
I came to the U.S. in 1963,I was born in East Anglia in England. I did nurse's training there where I met my husband, Bruce, on a blind date. I graduated from nursing school as an RN and after my eldest son was born I stayed home. We went to Chaumont, France for a year in 1962, Bruce was transferred there.
The next stop was Alamogordo, NM where we lived for 2 years. I worked at the local hospital and Bruce was stationed at Holloman AFB. He then decided to go to civilian Electronics School so we ended up in Chicago IL for another year where my second son was born.
We came to Tacoma in 1966 when my husband got a job at Boeing working on the then new 747s. I worked in a medical office until 1987 when I had to retire due to health problems. His parents live here in Washington so they were happy to see us and the grandkids.
My sons are not married. The oldest is a barber and the youngest is an accounts manager in Seattle.
We belong Grace Lutheran Church in Tacoma and they are now my family. I have a few cousins and a brother and sister in law in England still and a number of old friends there that come to visit occasionally.
I have had the privilige of helping this young girl from Mali for the last 5 years through World Vision. She has grown a lot since I saw her first photo but is doing well according to all her reports. She does not speak English only French so I hear on her progress from the village representative for World Vision. It is a wonderful organization that helps us help others in far away places that really need our help. You can check into World Vision on their website. www.worldvision.org
I like to meet new people, I may be a bit quiet at first but my husband is a very outgoing person so I don't feel so shy when he's around.
It's easier on the web to make new friends. I am enjoying all the people I meet on NOTH. I have learned lots of new things and there are lots more things I plan to learn.

I like a good cup of tea. I like to knit and do jigsaw puzzles, and I like to work in my garden when I can.
I like to visit my dear sweet mother in law who is 90 years old and as bright as ever. We girls have to stick together she says as she has sons and so do I.
I like to visit with my friends from church and chat on the phone with them.
