It would be interesting to see what type of genealogy programs people use.  Maybe it could become a separate discussion topic on here.  I use RootsMagic, what do you use?

I used to use PAF for many years but switch after my daughter found Legacy.  I really love it and have upgraded it.  I like the print-outs and the ease of putting on pictures.

I've been using Family Tree Maker version 16 and ancestry.com mostly.  Does anyone else use these?  I've come upon a problem with my Family Tree Maker and the web search feature.  It seems to be a problem with a 'missing .dll' but tech support hasn't been able to help me.  So I bought the newest version, FTM 2009, which does work but I hate it.  I want my FTM vs 16 .dll back!  Incidentally, I still have an older computer next to my newer one.  The search on that computer (FTM 16) continues to work fine, so I know it's the newer computer, not the program.  If anyone has any knowledge they could impart I'd be eternally grateful.  Perhaps I should start a new topic regarding this problem but I didn't know really where to start.

I use Legacy for my family tree, which is almost fifty thousand people.  I also use Passage Express (by Legacy) for making wonderful CD's for family

I use RootsMagic, PAF,Ancestry and geni.com.  I like them all.  RootsMagic is my main genealogy program.  Ancestry I use to contact others and use their searches.  geni.com I use for relatives to add to our trees together.  It is really fun to see the tree expand in all directions.  So many share pictures one might never have seen otherwise and new information is gathered by all.

I use Family Tree Maker 2009. Before that it was 2005 & its taking me awhile to get used to '09. In fact, I went back to '05 temporarily when the frustration got too great. But '09' call was too much for me & the more familiar I get with it, the more I like it.

I use Legacy 7.0 which now includes Legacy Charting and many other tools.  I think it's fantastic software!
