How did you first become aware of CloudEight, Information Avenue and now NOTH?

This is my story!

About 6 or 7 years ago, not long after we got our first computer, I was browsing for stationery sites one day and came across CloudEight Stationery.  I became a member right away and a few years later when they started Information Avenue, I signed up for lifetime membership.

Signing up for the stationery site was a smart decision and I've never regretted it for a minute!  Of course when they sent out the invitation to join Not Over The Hill, I signed up right away again.  Another smart move on my part if I do say so myself!

Thank you ThunderCloud and EightBall

My story is very similar to yours.  About 9 years ago I came across Cloudeight while searching for themes, stationery, etc.  Then I signed up for the Information Avenue.  I've been on the sidelines ever since.  If TC & Eightball only knew how many times I've quoted them........

As soon as I got their invitation to check out the Hill I rushed right over and I think I've been here ever since.

I am not sure how many years ago it was, (it was quite a few), but someone sent me an email with this gorgeous stationary, I saw the link to cloudeight, clicked on the site, and been there ever since. And like the rest, when the offer came to join NOTH, I was delighted. It has truly been a delight, thank you TC & EB ! ! !  And thanks to all the members here on "The Hill" ! ! ! !

It sounds like we all had the same experience. I saw the stationary first then signed up for the Information Avenue Newsletter and jumped at the invitation to join NOTH. It is wonderful Can't thank TC and EB enough. Squirrel

My experience was much the same, but my sister was the one who found C8 in 2004. As in the previous posts, she too was searching for stationery. She sent me an e-mail about it, & the rest is history! We both joined the forum, subscribed to the Info Ave Premium newsletter, & have been hooked ever since! The things I've learned in 4 years are priceless! I sure appreciate EB & TC!!! They're good people!

Good morning everyone,

I have been a subscriber to the weekly newsletter for some years having found it through a stationery search.  Since then I have downloaded several programs either recommended or supplied by Cloudeight. Ihave a special folder labelled "Cloudeight helpers" which I refer to constantly

The principles espoused by TC and EB have remained ever constant and their latest creation is absolutely brilliant

Kind regards and best wishes  TC and EB,regards...Bigaloscar

My story is a different. Several years ago, my mom was working in a thrift store that the church owned. There was a little old man who came in there looking for computers. I later learned that he would buy old cheap computers, rebuild them and give them to kids in our town who could not afford to buy one. Anyway, one day I was in the store when he came in. I told him that I knew where he could get several computers. I aquired them and delivered them to him. I had an old computer that I played on. We got to talking about computers and he said he could tweek mine up to make it run online. He did and I was hooked. But I was also terrified! I was afraid I would tear the up beyond repair. Every time I had a problem I would call him. He was always helpful. Then one day he said to me," just use the thing, There is nothing you can do that I cant undo". One day I got an e-mail from Jim and it was a link to cloudeight. He wrote, "I am still here but thought you might like all this info". Old Jim would never let me pay him for working on my computer  because I had given him the computers and as he said,"the opportunity to help someone else". Jim departed this life a year ago. He taught me a lot about computers but he also taught me a lot about life.  He was a true friend.    nitro

Hi Nitro, that is such a nice story  I rigged up an old computer for my grandchildren a few years ago. It was being thrown out at a Council clean-up. Put a few better parts into it and loaded all the important programs XP - AVG - SpyBot - Clean-up - Office etc. They are still happy with it. Every so often I clean some of the rubbish out of it to stop it from getting slower then a wet week, lol. Now they are waiting for Mr. Rudd to fulfill his election promise that "Every schoolchild will get a computer"

My story isn't quite as pleasant as the rest have been. I had purchased my first computer and not knowing anything about them (or the big bad internet), I started learning the hard way. Well, someone had sent me an email with the cutest little smileycon creatures with an invitation to join. I did, however, what they sent me was SmileyCentral and Incredimail. I had also downloaded some cute cursors from one of the free websites.

Yep! You guessed it. All sorts of problems. In quite a short time, my computer crashed! Took it to the techs, they reloaded everything and when I got it home, I downloaded everything all over again. Well, a couple months go by and it crashes again. Now, this is ridiculous I'm thinking. I asked the techs what was causing the problem and they said I had lots of spyware and changes to the registry. When I got it home that time, I started trying to figure out what could be causing the problem. My son told me about Spybot Search & Destroy so I downloaded it. When I downloaded SmileyCentral again, it popped up as Spyware. I deleted it.

I then started looking for other 'free' programs and fortunately, found Cloudeight's Smileycons. By now I had learned to read the entire EULA (although most are extremely LONG) and had decided if it takes a day to read it; don't download it. Well, Cloudeight's is short, sweet and to-the-point. I downloaded the trial version of Smileycons in 2004 and have been hooked ever since. I became a Smileycons Gold LT member and a Premium Avenue Newsletter LT member as soon as they offered.

I cannot thank EB & TC enough for all the hard work they do trying to keep us computer junkies up and running with clean programs, lots of fun and loads of information you won't find anywhere else on the internet. They are two of the most honest people I've ever met (figuretively speaking) and consider them to be my "computer gurus".

I tell everyone I know that has a computer about them and all the wonderful things they've done and continue to do.  Kudos to you both EB and TC. You're a great team and I thank you for everything. You're the GREATEST!
