I have Avast with Vista Home Basic & is has been fine for about  11 months.  Since Xmas week the icon has been disappearing from the system tray & I get it back with a bit of mucking around now cannot get it back what ever I try.  I only have dial up & tried to download it again the other day & almost got it all but the signal got too slow & it cut off.

Have been on the Avast forum for help but thinking of trying another free anti virus.  Used AVG before but Avast was getting good reviews so changed over.  Any recomendations would be appreciated.
