Hello All.

Just wanted to tell ya'll that I found out a couple weeks ago that my 13 year old cat, Cookie, has cancer in her mammary system. I feel at her age, I cannot put her through the surgery of removing her mammary system. Without the surgery we may have up to a year with her but the vet says that it will probably metasticize to her lungs. I plan on loving and enjoying her as long as possible but I will NOT let her suffer as that's not fair to her. I have had her since she was 2 weeks old when her mother was hit by a car. I knew I could tell ya'll and you would understand how I am feeling. Thanks for letting me share.

Love, Robin

Robin, I'm so sorry to hear about Cookie. I agree..the best you can do for her is love her while you can.  We did that with Snowball...finally had to give in & put her to sleep in January; we just didn't want her to suffer. SoI totally understand what you're feeling.  My thoughts are with you. Take care. Dianne

Robin,

I am very sorry to hear about Cookie. I don't visit this group too often so I just saw your message about this. I have always had cats. A couple years ago I had the vet look at Whitey as he wasn't eating. He found a large mass and did not recommend surgery. He said my cat was suffering and suggested what I did not want to hear. The memories never go away, no matter how many pets you have over the years. I still remember each and every one of them. I will put Cookie in my prayers.

Robin,  I'm so sorry to hear about Cookie.  Sounds you've had such a long life with her and I'm sure you will now.  My cat's sister, died last year of cat leukemia and it was a blessing to be with her through the end.  And I hope that didn't sound callous.  But I enjoyed my private time with her as she progressed in her illness and as I had to do more and more for her I could see in her eyes that she felt more love than any human I've knowm so far.  Better go now, here come the tears again.  I will miss her more than ever but I have her sister and brother and they remind me daily of the love I have for my cats.  Be strong and keep checking with the vets.  They do have some meds to help.  And again, I am truly sorry for Cookie and you.  Be strong and take care.
