HP De-Branded Sempron LE-1250 2.2 GHz Desktop PC

    General Features:
    No Operating System
AMD Sempron LE-1250 2.2 GHz processor
    2 GB DDR2 RAM
    320 GB SATA hard drive
    DVD±RW drive
    Integrated video
    Integrated audio
    Integrated Ethernet
56K PCI modem. I recently bought this computer for my daughter who lives in another state as me and she's unable to connect to the internet. She installed her copy of XP and everything ran smooth, but when she called the cable company the cable guy told her to go into control panel and then into network and Internet connections and when she did thiers nothing in there. No Local Area Connection or anything. So I told her to go into Device manager and look under network adapters she said it's not even on the list. So now I'm at a lose. I don't know where to go next. Is this a network card problem or a Microsoft problem or a XP problem or a Geeks.com problem where I got the computer? I would be truly grateful for any help at all cause I know nothing about any of this stuff. I know she missing drivers for her sound card and other things we could get off the internet but first we have to get her on the internet.... Thanks in advance for any help at all. Oh yeah, I emailed Geeks.com twice and got no responce......

Geeks .com should stand behind their computers. If not I would let them know that I was contacting the Better business bureau in their area about their in ability to help you. As far as the rest of the problem I am sure that Winterdog or maybe Alan could help with this. suzan

But what a fine spirit will mark Christ’s rule! “Come to me, all you who are toiling and loaded down,” said Jesus, “and I will refresh you. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am mild-tempered and lowly in heart, and you will find refreshment for your souls. For my yoke is kindly and my load is light.”—Matt. 11:28-30.

Thank you for your responce. I emaled them twice just to ask them for their help. I just wanted to know what I need to get my daughter connected to the internet, that's all. I don't know who's fault it is or what but I thought since I bought it from them they would help, but no. Not even an email. They don't even have a phone number for tech support or customer service. They want eveything by email... Isn't that something? I've bought stuff from their before but I never had to use their support before. Well now I guess I no better....

How do you connect to the Internet? Dial up, or cable? If it is the cable I assume that she has a modem and connects that way. Is it a new cable install? If it is why didn't the cable guys check the connection out. I guess that it is not wireless. The cable techs should be knowledgeable enough to help more than they seem to be. What you can also do is Google the problem. That is how I find the answer to some of the questions that I answer. I just check the sites that they recommend and usually find the answer. Suzan

Here is one answer that I found. I didn't read the whole article, but maybe it will help. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/825826  Suzan

I suggest the modem/ethernet card is the problem, very cheap to replace..
