So you don't know how to take graphics like my little blinkies and paste them in comments??
Well you will know how to do it after you go through my little tutorial here.
In order to use graphics in your comments you need an online storage place to store those graphics so you don't have to upload them to the site on which you are posting them. If all the people on a particular site like The Hill, uploaded all the graphics they use in their comments, the hill would exceed it's bandwidth limit in no time at all. When we store our images online and make them show up on another site without uploading them to that site, it is called "hotlinking" In a lot of cases, this kind of use of graphics is not allowed as you use up the bandwidth of the site where you are hotlinking the graphic from. An this is stealing because they are paying for the bandwidth on their site, not you. But there are several sites on the net where "hotlinking" is permitted and best of all... it's free.
My favourite site for storing my images for using on The Hill is Photobucket. All you have to do is go to the site and register for an account.
http://www.photobucket.com
Save the link to your site in your favourites in Internet Explorer or whatever Internet program you use.
Ok so now we are going to save a graphic to Photobucket, so we can use it in a comment on The Hill.
Right click the image below and save it somewhere on your hard drive where you can find it easily again.

Now you have to have your photobucket album open and you need to click where I have shown you in the picture below:

Now you have to find where you saved that image on your computer and click on it.

After the image has uploaded to Photobucket, it will come on a screen that says edit etc. Just press continue to album or save and close. I got rid of that bit because it annoyed me and can't remember exactly what is on that page.
So now you should have this showing in your album...

Now you can use it in a comment on The Hill
Just write your message in the comment box as you usually would. Use whatever font and font colour you like. Now if you are ready to add the graphic please proceed below.

If you want to center your graphic in the comment you need to follow the picture below

Now you need to go back to photobucket to your graphic that you uploaded. You will notice that there are 4 different links under the graphic that you can use. We want the second one down for using in comments. If you simply click on the link it will automatically copy it to your clipboard for you.

Now in the menu part of the comments box you are writing in on The Hill you need to click on the green icon in between The A and HTML. A box will pop up on your screen. Like the example below.

All you need to do is right click in the box next to Image URL and press paste or you click in the box and press CTRL+V and the link you copied from Photobucket will appear in the box.

Then just press Insert at the bottom of the dialogue box and your graphic will appear in the comments box.
This is how you put a graphic in your comments box, using graphics stored on Photobucket.
I hope you found my tutorial useful and I look forward to seeing more images pop up in all the comments on The Hill.

Great tutorial! I don't use the little green tree myself. I also don't click on the Direct Link at Photobucket. When I use a graphic at Photobucket, I click on IMG Code (which automatically copies the code) and then I just come back to the HILL page and paste the code directly into the comment, message, blog, forum, OR a profile box. There is more than one way to do it - use whatever is easiest for you.

The direct link in Photo Bucket will also copy and paste to where you want it. I have even cut an image out of a message and pasted it back just using cut + paste. It has worked that way. Sooo there is more than two ways to skin a cat. { Not what your thinking }

Well, like the ladies above, I also use a different method to insert graphics into my messages on The Hill. However I think BrisSherry needs to be congratulated on the time and effort she has put into making a Tutorial like this. With the screenshots to make her instructions so easy to understand, I'm sure this will be very helpful to new members with not much experience in working with images.
Well done BrisSherry!!

These are great visual directions to the question that is often asked. I have subscribed to the topic and will use it when I'm asked the question the next time. Thanks very much, BrisSherry

Thanks so much for this information! I'm going to try adding a signature to this message and see if it works.

Well, I tried this method (IMG code) here on the forum and it doesn't work for me. All I see is the code, no image. I have always used the little tree on the forums. I did get an image to show using the HTML code by clicking on the HTML next to the tree and pasting the HTML code, but that seems to be no better than using the little tree with a direct link.

Let's give my method a try here on forum - IMG Code. If I'm right, I will see nothing but code when I paste it in, but I will see the graphic after posting the message.

IT WORKS! And it works this way too: click on picture, click on copy, click in a message box and click on paste to instantly see your graphic. This only works with graphics that you find here on the HILL.
