A power spike or lightening, I don't know which fried my computer, so now I have a new computer with Vista home premium. I downloaded stationery for vista, but it is not performing like it did in XP and earlier. The music will not play. I get a notice when I try to check the music that the file does not exist, meaning the music file. When I navigate to the folder to check for mid. files I can't find any. I'm really disappointed that the files are not complete or that Vista does not recognize the mid files. I have no idea how to go about fixing the problem. Can anyone help me?

Are you possibly trying to download one at a time? You can't do that with Vista.  You MUST click on the VISTA option for downloading...and take the whole 'collecttion'.  I just downloaded the new Halloween collection & it's working great.   If that's not the problem, maybe Eightball has another idea.   But I've downloaded a number of Cloudeight's collections for Vista since I got this.  And my only 'problem' was before I realized I was downloading it wrong, lol.

It has been my experience when using the Cloudeight stationery for Vista's Windows Mail program that there are no midis association with the individual stationery selections.  Also, they do not scroll like the ones we used to download for Outlook Express.  I have received some of the Cloudeight stationery that was made for OE that scroll and have a midi included, but it took forever for the stationery to open up and function properly.  I thought that Windows Mail had stopped functioning until I learned to have a bit of patience and wait for it to fully download.  I also discovered that I can no longer embed midi files to any of my emails and can only attach them.

Carolyn, did you get it working?

Mouse, the slow download is probably due to having dial-up.  You also may need to check some of your settings in Windows Mail.    As I said...you MUST download the entire VISTA collections--NOT the ones marked for 'OE'.  Then, they should work pefectly..mine are. And I'm also able to change midis in the Vista Windows Mail (sometimes, I make my own stationery & add in whatever midi I want to use).

So..as long as you follow the instructions on which collection to download...it does work 'properly' in Windows Mail (Vista).   Good luck!

As noted by Dianne, our stationery works perfectly in Windows Vista, complete with sound and scrolling. We have a picture turorial on hwo to download and use on our website. It is actually the used the exact same way as Outlook Express, so there is no learning curve.

As far as size, the collection files for vista take a few seconds on a cable connection and about 15 or 20 seconds on a slow dialup. The files are actually quite small, with most well under 300 kb in size so even on a slow dialup you are able to download in seconds.

Also, as noted above, be sure you are installing the files for Vista, as they have the correct path for Midi music, and also, you cannot save files from an XP machine and copy to a Vista, since the file paths are different. A user does not have to worry about file paths.. our install files do it all for you. all you have to do is click message, new message using, select stationery.. 3 steps!

Thanks Eightball for your reply.  I'll have to checkout the stationery again and see if there is something I am doing wrong.  I must have a really slow connection at times [grin].

Good morning EB and everyone,  I also have a new compter with Windows Vista Premium and when I send an email using Cloudeight stationery (which I love) , when I click send a box comes up that says some of the pictures cannot be found when sending and do you want to send anyway?  Can you shed some light on this for me?  I appreciate all you do for us.  NancyW

When I first changed from xp to vista I had the exact same problem,I put questions to cloudeight but they were never able to give me an answer other then the page that troubleshoots sound on their website, i did research online, one day I came up with the notion that if you notice vistas all about "run as administrator" and the uac so maybe to install the stationary properly Id try this (download the stationary file of your choice then right click on run as administrator, you can proceed to install )from that moment on I was able to listen to my music ..and the midi files were all in the files they belonged. I dont know if you have since found this out on  your own, but I do hope this helps
