When I left to go to dinner tonight my husband was sitting up in the chair.Continue to have very hard to understand speech but was more alert and able to follow commands more readily. Son called me after night visiting hours and said his speech was much clearer and he was back in bed and covered up in warm blankets. Complained of pain in his right shoulder.

I am hoping that his speech will clear up by morning. I think it is from irritation from the tubes, at least I am hoping that is the cause.

He was running a low grade temperature so the respiratory doctor started him on an antibiotic. If it isn't one thing it is another.

Lord Jesus, i ask that you would continue to touch Mary's husband. You know the needs he has in his body and the healing that needs to take place. Restore health and wellness once again. Strengthen this family Lord with your love and peace. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen!

God bless all my friends Lord,
for we are in "The Hands Of God"

Today has not been a good day. The swallowing test showed that he was still trying to aspirate when he swallows so they have put in a Dobhoff feeding tube for nutrition and meds. They have scheduled some kind of Fiber Optic test of the throat for Monday. Did the MRI od the head and now he is complaining of severe pain in the right shoulder so they xrayed it, then had to come back and do an xray of the abdomen to be sure the feeding tube was in the correct place.

Speech is much better today so I think that is a good sign.He has begged for coffee all day but of course we can't give him any.

We were told by the respiratoy doctor that he has emphysema in the base of his lungs. We can live with that. They gave him a dose of Lasix to get rid of fluid and he has complained about the catheter all day too.I was so exhausted by all the negativity I had to leave for a while. My sister-in-law's funeral was at 11 so I went and was back at the hospital by 12:30. Left there at 2 and was back at 4. I am letting the kids have the late shift. I came home to unwind.Maybe after an evening by myself I will be in a better frame of mind to deal with him tomorrow. Will update tomorrow  night. Take care all.
