A handful of users are making this more of an issue then it needs to be. When asking if something should go as a blog, simply think.. "
Is it something I wrote?
Is it something to share with the masses?
Is it something better shared with friends?
Is it something that has its own place/category?
If there is a place for it, put it there.. not in blog:
Is it a picture? Pictures have their place.. the gallery. or a group. Or update daily on your page so your friends can see.
Is it a video? Videos have their own place. Or start a group.
Is it a complaint? Use the Contact Us link, or post on the forum. If you post your dirty laundry on a blog, it will be removed.
Is it a support question? Post it on the forum.
Is it scripture? Post in one of the groups, create one, share on chit chat in the forum.
Is it a poem? Join one of the poetry groups or create your own and share with others.
Is it a thank you? Then use PM, Bulletins, or post on the forum in chitchat.
Is it a computer tip? There are many computer groups.
Not sure? Ask. The above is really not that complicated. If you think about it, its really quite easy to see what is a blog and what is not. Nothing has really changed; we just posted clarification as it seems some were getting carried away posting everything in blog and the daily task of cleaning out the things that did not belong was becoming quite time consuming. And,if it is a new member, be gentle; don't lecture.. just help point them in the right direction without making them feel they did something wrong.
Again, only a handful of members are making this a big issue; the other 15,000 + members are enjoying The Hill, spending time sharing, making friends, playing games, etc. I see hundreds of comments/messages/posts a day that are all of very positive nature.
The only thing that disappoints me is when I see a nice blog where not a single person took the time to make a comment.. even to acknowledge they noticed it or read it. And even sadder is how many will jump in and comment if there is a gripe. .. think about it. Perhaps you could make someone's day by a simple comment such as "how nice" or "thank you for sharing". Give it a try!
I encourage replies.
