How I Shot Myself In The Foot!

Yesterday I got the wild idea to put a clock on my page like several other people have done.  I saw some instructions under the tips section of the forum and it said they were easy.  Well, easy for some maybe but not for me!   I followed the instructions but nothing happened and in the process of trying to figure it all out, I totally lost all my settings on my page. It took me forever to get the colors back somewhat to the way they were before.  I finally decided perhaps there was some information missing in the directions or at least I need more detailed instructions than were posted, DUH!  I guess I will live without a fancy clock on my page!  The lesson learned here is if you don't know what you're doing...don't do it!

Hey Redondopat - whatever happened to 'If at first you don't succeed........." It took me ages too, but I am so pigheaded that I just couldn't leave it alone. Roughly 6 hours after I started trying I got it!!!!LOL.

It took me about 6 hours just to get my settings back somewhat similar to the first ones!  I still have a couple of problems to fix.  The words for my video don't show and neither do the groups words.  Ah well...sooner or later, I'll get it.  In the meantime, friend1 has offered to give me detailed instructions if I want to try again.  I guess I'll go for it and keep EVERYTHING crossed including my eyes!

Hi Lainey,

Go to:

my acct, settings, design my profile, and change the box where it says background color and background main?  When you get to those boxes, click on the color and there should be a box that you can check that says transparent.  Don't forget to save the changes at the bottom of the page.  I hope this helps.

Hi Red,

I sent you a message about clocks, just let me know if you would still like to attempt to get a clock for your page. Thank you!

I'd be afraid to put a clock on my page for different reasons... wouldn't want to see how much time I REALLY spend on NOTH! LOL

Joy to you always!

HI...I too had trouble and I think the reason was the size. I just removed the clock and all my settings were right back where they were before I started. It is a live and learn process these computers. Some days are good and others are not so good.

If I had just removed the clock and stopped right there, I would have been fine.  It was when I clicked on change settings that I got into trouble :-)  Always quit while you're ahead which I didn't do, ha!  My foot is better now that friend1 walked me through the process.  I even have a clock!

Hi, even though your message wasn't directed at me, could I take advantage of your kindness and ask you to give me some hints on how to get the @#$%&* clock on my page? thanks Anne

I know Alan has been a great help to a lot of friends here that have been looking for a clock so I thought I would just team up with Alan a little and post a little more help if needeed.

Glad to help Anne.

Below I have given you the link to open for the clocks. Scroll to the bottom and click "Collection of Flash Clocks" and it will open with the first clock of the collection (there are many) to check out more directly under the present clock you will see the words "see more free flash clocks", each time you click those words a new clock will open. Once you have chosen the one you like, leave the photo of that particular clock right where it is and scroll down till you come to a box with a file name. When you see the file name right click and choose "Select All" this will highlight the file, right click again and choose "Copy" Now you have it saved, go to NOTH web site and click on "My Account" and choose "Settings" then select "Profile Settings", scroll to the box where you want the clock to go and right click "Paste". Your file should have dropped in, once you see it scroll to bottom and click "Save".

You are done, go to your page and see if you have your clock. If you have any trouble please let me know.

Tom
