though not Catholic,  i start and end my day with this prayer of St. Francis of Assisi it keeps me focused on what kind of person i want to be:

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon.
Where there is doubt, faith.
Where there is despair, hope.
Where there is darkness, light.
Where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved, as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive.
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.

Amen.
1. St. Francis of Assisi is a most beautiful prayer indeed by mehere
Happy 4th of July to all, thank you for your comments

This is one of my favorite prayers.  Another one is:

Prayer of St. Teresa of Avila

May today I feel peace within.
May I trust my Highest Power that I am exactly where I am meant to be.
May I not forget the infinite possibilites that are born of faith.
May I use these gifts I have received, and pass on the love that has been given to me.
May I be content knowing I'm part of God.
May this presence settle into my bones, and allow my soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love.
Let nothing upset me or startle me.
All things pass; yet God doesn't change;
Patience wins what it seeks,
Whoever has God lacks nothing;
God alone is enough.

I will try this day to live a simple, sincere and serene life, repelling promptly every thought of discontent, anxiety, discouragement, impurity, and self-seeking; cultivating cheerfulness, magnanimity, charity, and the habit of holy silence; exercising economy in expenditure, generosity in giving, carefulness in conversation, diligence in appointed service, fidelity to every trust, and a childlike faith in God.

In particular I will try to be faithful in those habits of prayer, work, study, physical exercise, eating, and sleep which I believe the Holy Spirit has shown me to be right.

And as I cannot in my own strength do this, nor even with a hope of success attempt it, I look to thee, O Lord God my Father, in Jesus my Savior, and ask for the gift of the Holy Spirit.
