Here are a couple of links to the SuperBladePro/Flaming Pear Site for guidelines on installing and using SuperBladePro.

For Installing:   http://www.flamingpear.com/psp-sbp-install.html

FAQ for using:   http://www.flamingpear.com/faq.html#zipsit

Hope you find these helpful ... cheers ... Pam

Thank you Pamela! I'll look into those places. The Environments and textures you asked about didn't show up at all and nothing seemed right so I took the whole BladePro away and installed it from another site. Then the computer said the program might not have been properly installed and asked me to reinstall it for this version. So I let the computer do that and put it in the programs folder as well. Now it turns up in the plugins folder and in the program. Don't know about that gold thing yet because I haven't had the time to try it yet, but I suppose it will now. I think this had something to do with Vista because of what it said when I installed the program. Vista doesn't always function well with older programs but you can change it to use those anyway. I had to do this with the Visroz too. I'm not completely sure about this because I haven't learned all about Vista yet. I'm still a little bit annoyed with it but after learning how to use older programs I like it a little better  than I did to begin with, because then I couldn't use one of my favourite programs.

About PSP X2  Ev sent me a message saying that it will probably be alright if I have at least 1Gb of memory so I think I'll go ahead and buy it.

Thanks for your help, both of you!

Hugs,

It sounds as though you're on the right track now Margareta.
I hope that everything works perfectly for you, when your gold_shiny.q9q is saved into your Environments and Textures Folder.
I don't have Vista ... don't think that I'd enjoy dealing with all the changes and challenges. lol
Bye for now ... hugs ... Pam.

OH Pamela, you expressed my feelings exactly . I fought changing to XP Pro from Windows 98 ...Now my husbands thinking Vista & I'm saying NO !!  I'm not into change either . Things dont work as well or not at all & you have to reinstall everything ..& I have a lot of stuff !!

I'm going to take a look at those links you posted too ..I have problems with my Superblade Pro sometimes ..  I just realized why I couldn't get the q9q file to work right in SBP ( from that tutorial margareta posted)..it was because a q9q preset file is a Blade pro file & not a Superblade pro file . q5q is a SBP Preset file. When I finally realized it , the shinygold preset q5q I already had for SBP worked fine . I dont use SBP very often & I forgot ...

Hi Ev ...SBP is a challenge too ... lots to learn.
My version of SuperBladePro uses .q5q and .q9q files, so I guess this is why I haven't had a problem with the gold_shiny.q9q. Other than my favorite effect for Text - M_coconutice.q5q  I don't use it until a Tutorial calls for it.
Bye for now ....

I didn't know that ,Pamela. I thought SBP only uses q5q presets...in fact I read that somewhere.  Elizabeth has been trying to learn it & is having some problems like I do  where it just wont apply the preset . Do you have to go back after you've applied the q5q file & find the bmp or jpg or does your program program apply everything at once.. One website says it is supposed to do that. I think it is a complicated program & I haven't played with any of the settings except maybe once with a tutorial that gave me the settings ...I love the text . One thing I noticed about the tut of Margaretas ..it didn't say to activate the text or pic with the magic wand or float it & I find nothing happens when unless I do this ...sorry I rattled on like that .. Just picking your brains .. Hugs       EV

May I add my 2 cents worth here.....NOTHING about Super Blade Pro is staright forward....well my copy anyway!!!

When I choose a preset....it tells me that it cannot be found.....I need to tell SPB where to find it. Only trouble is, I chose the gold preset....and it tells me that a completely different preset cannot be found. I simply cannot fathom what this darned filter is all about, but I'd sure like to. Ev has been trying to help me...so far I cannot get a grip on this contrary piece of creation.

Kitty dearest ... as you're new to PSP ... let it stay Greek for a while. lol
Plugins/Filters will come into play a little further down the track in your PSP journey .... Oh ... that's unless you're like Elizabeth and jump in at the deep end on the first day. lol

Elizabeth and Ev, I'm no wizz at this SBP Filter thing either but I'll just ask you a question.

After you unzipped your
crumples.jpg and your gold_shiny.q9q did you copy and paste both of them into your Environments and Textures Folder in SuperBladePro?
I highlighted both of mine, and then used the Move the selected Items option, to move them into the Environments and Textures Folder.

Always have PSP closed when you are installing new Plugins/Filters.

If you manage to install a Plugin of the same name twice, it can cause conflict, and not show up at all. Maybe do a search to see if you have this one in a couple of different places and delete the one that may be incorrectly placed.
(Both parts of it, the .jpg and the .q9q)

Elizabeth, the Tutorial says they used Shiny Gold, when the preset name is gold_shiny.q9q but with your eye for detail, I'm sure you will have already picked that up.
Is your SuperBladePro fully installed in My Documents - My PSP - My Plugins.
This is where mine is and PSP is directed to it there.
Margareta, with her Vista, has just installed hers in My Programs and directed her PSP there. SuperBladePro was opening successfully for her with the new install, but she hadn't got to installing the new gold_shiny.q9q effect.
That's about all I can think of for now .... I'll stay posted.
Hugs for my poor frustrated PSP Buddies.

Gee!

The more I read the happier I am that I managed without that Super Blade pro! But I will try it some time.

Pamela said that I directed PSP to programs, but actually, I didn't. That's the strange thing. I've only directed it to plugins and I have Super Blade there too. What I think is that Vista wanted it in the programs just to be able to run it. But that is only what I think. I might have had it before that, even though I didn't find it. I'm still struggling with learning about how Vista works. I suppose by the time I've got it they've come up with something new! But because I had to do the same thing with Visroz I thought that might be what happened.

I don't do much PSPing at the moment because of my hand. I'm reading and listening and trying to learn a little ahead about using sound. That's part of a course I'll do at work next term so I'm taking the opportunity now that I'm home to make it easier for when we start on that.

Happy PSPing to all of you, with or without Super Blade!

Margareta
