Hello, Teresa!  I hope you are both well and happy today and continue to be so!  Did you get over your cold before Christmas?  My hubby and I had a matched set of colds for the New Year.  Oh, yay...not!  However, they weren't really horrible-well not as far as colds go.  They all kinda make you miserable, but this one wasn't as bad as others I've had.  It does like to linger, though, as I still have a bit of a tickle in my throat.  Gee, even the symptoms are almost cute.  ...almost.

I was a bit frustrated at Christmas because we got such a late start on everything.  We were still shopping with only about a week to go until the big day, and that's not the way I like to do things.  Gonna get the shopping done EARLY next year, by golly!  That way, I should have more time to focus on other things.  If I get my Christmas letter done early, the cards can go out right after Thanksgiving...that'll clear even more time.  IF I even do cards.  It seems not many folks are sending them out anymore.  I kinda like to, though.  It's the one time of year when I make a real effort to get in touch with family and friends that I may not see through the year.  And even though the price of postage seems to always be going up, it's still not that much to send out a greeting to those you care for.

We sure have had a mild January here.  It's been cloudy (which makes it kinda dreary with the shortened daylight hours) and rainy, but the temperatures have been in the 40's.  I know quite a lot of the country has been in the deep freeze--some places going below zero...WOW...that's COLD!!!  We did have a white Christmas, though, and I thought that was lovely.  We don't always get one, so I truly appreciate it when they happen.

Ya know the holiday season is coming to a close when you are running out of holiday cookies and candy--at least, around here that's a pretty good yardstick.  All that is left is about half of a batch of chocolate fudge.  My hubby makes it every year; the recipe fills up a jelly roll pan.  That's a LOT of fudge!  It's tasty, too, but very rich and that's why we still have some.

I think I'm going to be making some banana bread tomorrow.  Or maybe some banana whoopie pies if I can find a recipe for them on the 'net that sounds good.  I have four old bananas that need to be used or in a day or two...tossed in the compost bucket.  If I made banana bread, I could make some marshmallow topped brownies...geez, I think I just gained 5 pounds while typing out this paragraph!

Here's hoping you feel good and are keeping warm this winter...or cool if it's been too dang warm where you are...I'm easy with my hopes!  Take care...

Love and Hugs,
Paula
