Haven't been to the cinema in over twenty years. Very selective about films on television. History comes into it again

Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Beethoven (especially)

Have a library of all kinds of books, mainly non-fiction - history, archaeology, religion, biographies

is gold - because, like me, it stays untarnished.

Well, I am aged but I like to think "with it". I am a full-time carer for my wife, Margaret, who suffers from a chronic chest complaint - asthma and COPD, and also has osteoporosis of the spine so has to use a wheelchair. Until recently I took an active part in our village activities, holding office in the Produce Guild, Chairman of the Village Hall committee and was a member of our local church council and churchwarden. My knees have now failed me - not particularly through kneeling in church - and I cannot garden as I used to do.

Reading - history, archaeology, thrillers and some classics, selective about television, classical music, a colourful and tidy garden, playing about with the computer, and writing. Have published articles and stories, have spoken on local radio.

The present state of our world, arrogance and selfishness

            | As stated in "What I like" And I like this - 'cos I wrote it:
In days of old, when knights were bold,
and ladies all aglow,
In tournaments and jousts, it seems
their favours they'd bestow
Upon some handsome gentil man,
who then would sally forth
With horse and spear, and show no fear
In battling his foe.

With ladies' kerchief on his lance
He afterwards would nobly prance
Back to his lady where she sat,
and courteously doff his hat*

(for 'hat, read 'helmet', but it doesn't rhyme)

But now we live in other days
And there are now some other ways
For ladies to their favours show
With emails to their chosen males
Whose hearts then throb and glow.

But if perchance no mail is sent
Like knight of old ignored,
The fellow will just slink away
His spirit sadly sored.
He'll shake his weary head, and sigh
"No use to man nor beast am I,
And no-one loveth me, and so
I'll crawl away and die".
