When these two badly abused Shih Tzus came into our lives, we didn't see their faces for 3 days.
They hid everywhere and anywhere they could find.
You see, they never knew the kind touch of a human hand. Never had human contact. They never felt soft grass under their feet; they knew only concrete, and fear, all their life. THEY ARE PUPPY MILL DOGS.
They trusted no human, only each other. They are amazingly bonded. They came to us malnourished, full of illnesses, afraid of everything, and never experiencing love.
This was a new adventure for them........a journey to freedom.
It took Sammy, the little male Black Shih Tzu, 6 months before he decided to give trust one last chance. In the process, he allowed someone to love him, and the love he returns is endless.
Simba, the little white and gray female dog, now 3 years later, remains scarred. Her trust is not yet complete, although her love abounds; .
......and we continue along a path of patience and love.
