Gospel, country & classical are at the top of my list.



Daniel Rodriguez is one of my favorite singers. What a God-given talent he has! He is the NY City singing policeman who became well-known following 9-11. We were fortunate enough to hear him and talk with him in October,'09, when he came to Westminster. He is just as nice as his voice is great!
I also enjoy brass band music, military bands and my husband's playing the cornet/trumpet!

Biographies are now my favorites. After reading some of them, it gave me new insight into the persons and helped me see why he/she believed or acted the way she/he did.
I also love cookbooks and edited & compiled 5 cookbooks: 4 for the education association and 1 for my church. I can read a cookbook just like I would a novel.

I have been married to the same man, Richard, an army brat who has lived all over the world, for 47 years this year (2009), and he is my very best friend; we have one son who was in the army band for a while, a deaf interpreter for a period, but is now a massage therapist.(We have one nephew who is also career military & still serving and 1 great-nephew, who is now home from Afghanistan.) I am a Marylander (home of Michael Phelps & Cal Ripken, Jr.) and have lived in this state all my life. I have retired twice -- from teaching after 31 years & from being a dr.'s asst. after 10 years. I just retired today (2/15/10 after 7 1/2 years) from part-time work in retail. I volunteer at my old school and at a local fire dept. & at my church (as historian for one thing); I am a head usher with my husband for the community concert series here in our town; we both also do a little work for Shepherd's Staff, a charity that does so much for the needy in our county. I have just resigned from the county tax assessment appeals board. Now you know more about me than you ever wanted to know.
My hubby was an instrumental music teacher for 30 years. He also was the asst. band director for the Baltimore Colts Band before the Colts left for Indianapolis (and he still holds a grudge at the way they departed). He has just finished serving 3 years as the president of the state retired teachers association. Now he likes to play the cornet, direct a local band, garden and loaf a lot, although he does still teach private music lessons. He too likes the Ravens and the Orioles.

I love rubber stamping and embossing. It is so relaxing for me. I never thought I could do anything artistic, but doing this craft has helped me see that I can do a little something along this line.
I also love any sport, particularly the Baltimore Ravens and the Baltimore Orioles. I was going to be a phys. ed. teacher at one time,& then changed my mind when I wondered if I would be able to run around the field in my 40s & 50s.

It's almost time for the Opening Day of baseball season! That's the game I really love!

Reading and cooking and the computer I also enjoy.

It upsets me tremendously when people pay no attention to the world around them and never know what is occurring in our world. It is also preposterous for people to absorb as gospel anything & everything the mainstream media tells us. I may not agree with a person's conclusions but I think he/she should be informed & know the facts and not just what the mainstream media says. (They are very biased and campaign for one party and it is very obvioux!)
I also do not like housecleaning; in fact, I detest it!!! That is why I continue working, I think.....so I can have someone come in and clean my house.

I can spend hours working on rubber stamping and embossing/making my Christmas cards and birthday cards and any others that I need. Then I will wonder where the time went.
I also collect snowmen, Santas, milk glass & China cups/saucers. I would like to start collecting Polish pottery, but that would be an expensive hobby unless I had extremely good uses for everything I bought.
