Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving.
One of the things I am very thankful for are my friends on NOTH. You are the best. This week on Thursday the United States, where I live, we will be celebrating this event with family and friends with big holiday dinners, almost always including a Turkey... church services usually the night or two before, parades some televised throughout the USA like the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade with Santa Claus as the last float ushering in the Christmas season and of course one of the great American past times Pro Football games where families gather around the TV sets to watch the games etc.
In remembering the first Thanksgiving I created the above graphic and also although I didn't create the web page on my homepage but got it from Doc Shell's web pages for NOTH it is the same scene.. that happened when our pilgrim forefathers and American Indian's set down and had a feast together in 1621
Edward Winslow wrote in the book Mourt's Relation about the Plimoth (aka Plymouth) Massachusetts, New England, First Thanksgiving "Our harvest being gotten in, our governor sent four men on fowling, that so we might after a special manner rejoice together after we had gathered the fruits of our labor. They four in one day killed as much fowl as, with a little help beside, served the company almost a week. At which time, amongst other recreations, we exercised our arms, many of the Indians coming amongst us, and among the rest their greatest king Massasoit, with some ninety men, whom for three days we entertained and feasted, and they went out and killed five deer, which we brought to the plantation and bestowed on our governor, and upon the captain and others. And although it be not always so plentiful as it was at this time with us, yet by the goodness of God, we are so far from want that we often wish you partakers of our plenty."
Blessings to you... always. Connie
