I don't watch many movies but when I do, I usually choose them based on the starring actors. I like Michael Douglas, Glenn Close, Robert DeNiro, Karl Maulden,Merle Streep and some others and I also like the comedy of Chris Rock, Eddie Murphy, Chevy Chase, Steve Martin.

My taste in music is eclectic. The spectrum covers everything from the opera to rock 'n roll, with a lot in between. I do not like rap, hip hop or anything that vaguely resembles that kind of noise that some people call music. In general I don't care for country and western music but there are some crossover songs I've heard that I enjoy.

I am an avid reader but I generally read only non-fiction: memoirs, current events, politics, travel books about cultures and ecology in far away places, various religious belief systems and whatever else captures my curiosity. I have had a Kindle for about two years and I enjoy being able to download a book anytime and have it available in convenient form to read. I take my Kindle with me everywhere and read while I'm standing in line or when I am eating lunch, waiting for a traffic light to change; just about anywhere.

The fall spectrum of colors are my favorite, i.e. rust, golden, browns, oranges but I also like corals and lush shades of green and purple.

Fried catfish, if it's prepared right, has to be my favorite food. I also enjoy Chinese food, seafood,bar-b-que ribs, roast beef, chicken and most veggies except brussl sprouts, which I loathe.

Don't do twitter. Somehow it doesn't appeal to me. Maybe I don't see the benefits.

You are all the greatest group of people I have met anywhere and I feel so lucky to have found you! I am still learning how to use everything on this site and I ask for your patience and understanding if I goof up or don't get back to someone right away. I treasure each and every one of you and look forward to a long and happy friendship here with all you wonderful people.

I was born and raised and have lived most of my life in the south except for three and a half years when I lived in France. I love the laid back, slow paced life here but I hate the heat: A subject you'll hear me complain about loudly and probably too often!
I have a Master's degree in Sociology and another Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling.
I am mother to three grown married children and grandmother to five wonderful grandchidren.
The children now are all four-footed. They are a miniature dachshund, and a brother and sister cats. The cats are pretty good children. The dog, on the other hand, is demanding, possessive and very poorly socialized but she is an excellent guard dog.She tends to be very aggressive and has bitten several people so I have to watch her carefully.

I like tech gadgets,reading, writing, doing photography, making post cards and note cards, keeping a journal and learning new things to do on the computer.
I like visiting my children and grandchildren and eating out with friends and visiting the zoo and botanical gardens when the weather is cool.
I like watching t.v., in particular I like the National Geographic Channel, Discovery Channel, the A & E Channel, Dateline and documentary programs.

I absolutely loathe and despise hot weather! I don't like people who are rude, pushy, and loud. I don't like those who are arrogant, lie and are irresponsible or do not respect other's boundaries.I don't like people who are overly competitive and who will step on others to further their own interest and who show no compassion or empathy for others.
I don't like those who bully and intimidate others and are abusive to animals or people whether it be verbal or physical abuse.
I don't like loud, noisy groups of people. I don't like cocktail parties and making "small talk."
I don't like pretentious, shallow and hypocritical people.
I don't like brussel sprouts or eggplant.
