We have a forum you can post pictures, recipes or jokes you want to share; these are not considered blogs and will be removed. On the other hand, for example, a recipe with a story about a recipe that has special meaning would be fine. Greetings to others, thank you's, etc. are not considered blogs and will be removed.

Paula Meems Rice ‎2013*2*15 EMOM'S MOUNTAIN NEWS
Friday edition

Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home!

Well, here I sit... Delilah on my lap and the new baby on the floor by my feet. What have I done??

Where do I start? lololol Let me see... first of all, I found a good home for the American Fox Hound. He is a beauty. Became my permanently attached shadow and guardian. However, he was so overly protective that he came very close to killing Houdini.... Read More

Savanna and Sadie

Savanna was born in June of 1993. She was big for a Shih-tzu and such a happy dog. If you praised her she'd wag her whole body.
In April of 2004 she ended up having to have her left eye removed because of glaucoma. She got around very well with only one eye...it didn't bother her at all. Then in November of 2005 she lost her right eye...also to glaucoma, and she was totally blind, but you'd never know it. We have a doggie door that goes out onto a little porch and then there... My knees were caught and twisted inside the center of my desk and I hit the left side of my face and had a little cut from that.   It took awhile for my knees to get settled do... Read More

How do you say goodbye?

Mom hasn't passed yet but it is only a matter of hours or days. The doctors and nurses are warning us so we are trying to prepare a reserve of strength to handle it. As big and loving her heart is, it can not continue to work with only a 10% function.  For me, Mom was always my best friend. The word “was” is a horrible word to use here but Mom developed Lewy’s Body Dementia and her once sharp, witty and inquisitive mind saw a quick decline in the last year and... Read More

The old senator, my friend

When I was growing up, we  had a very large buckeye tree in our front yard.  It was taller than a 2 story house.  I know how tall it was because when I would look outside my bedroom window onto the porch roof the buckeye tree still towered above me.   In the fall, the buckeyes that had been growing all spring and summer would begin to open up and fall to the ground along with its shell.  It was a big mess to clean up everyday.. And it was my job to help.  Sometimes... Read More
