Ecuador, for the most part, loves expats from most countries moving there, if nothing more than they generate a lot of dollars, whether in food, restaurants, houses, apartments, markets etc. and help the economy. I love the fact that the American dollar and all it's coins are used here. No money exchange problems. As a matter of fact, Ecuadorians prefer renting to those of us from the States...we are Norte Americanos (male) or Americanas (female), because they know we will take care of the p... Read More
Early Saturday morning, after meeting my friend Wes at San Blas Café and having a huge breakfast Burrito, made with 3 eggs no less, and meeting another expat couple, we left and Wes showed me an area of Cuenca I had not yet explored, and was I pleasantly surprised. I was glad to see ESPN will be televising some American football on Sunday and Monday night. I love to watch American football. I must have slept well, as I got up at 2:30 AM, but felt rested and refreshed.. So I stayed up and had a cup of coffee and thought I'd check my email, hoping that ea... Read More
Day 2 started out slowly, with me sleeping in until 6:30 AM - Ecuador time. We are 1 hour behind DST in the States. It will be the same time here when DST goes back to EST in the Fall. I made myself a cup of Mountain Blend instant coffee I brought with me. I had to drink it black because I had absolutely nothing in the fridge or cupboards. Good thing I brought some Stevia to sweeten it. As it turned out, it wasn't too bad. I am pleasantly surprised by my complete lack... Read More
