BLOGS: A blog, simply put, is something you have written, or written about.

We have a forum you can post pictures, recipes or jokes you want to share; these are not considered blogs and will be removed. On the other hand, for example, a recipe with a story about a recipe that has special meaning would be fine. Greetings to others, thank you's, etc. are not considered blogs and will be removed.

MY STORY ANd IM STICKING TO IT
Posted On 03/21/2015 12:54:18 by Notgrnyyet

We ate what we grew in the 50's and 60's. Bought flour, meal, sugar, and other staples at a store when needed. Everything was made from scratch and it was all oh so good. Meat, eggs, milk, butter and the like also tasted better than it does now. Chicken was fried in Mamas big iron skillet in hog lard. We ate lots of bacon and eggs and all the salt and grease our hearts desired. Unhealthy? Thats what they say now. Hey! I'm 70 and... Read More

What's to Celebrate?
Posted On 03/12/2015 08:23:18 by yourchoice
It didn't take long for our class to come up with any excuse to have a celebration. We didn't have much money but we sure could have a lot of fun. We would celebrate the end of exam week, the end of a night shift, the end of a happy date, and not to mention anyone's birthday (no cake available, but we had a great supply of cinnamon toast decked with at least one wooden match). I trusted them because the youngest of them was twelve. It was to be for supper that night. When I got home from work the boys had scraped the pot clean, ate... Read More

WE ARE ALL UNIQUE

Life can be rough but it can also be wonderful. It really comes down to the way we handle all the fears, hurts, hopes, dreams, and everyday problems that we are sure to face. Just when things are smooth on the road you can be sure that there will be a bump up ahead that is totally going to wreck your cart and all the things that were good are going to come spilling out in a great big heap. What counts is how you handle the spill. You can scream and holler about all the injustices of... Read More

TOO MUCH PROGRESS
Posted On 11/26/2013 14:30:13 by Notgrnyyet

What about the costs of things today?  Terrible!    I remember when Brenda just got her license to drive. You could get a learners permit at 13 then drive with a licensed driver for a while, I can't remember how long, then go in for a written exam and  "Wala", suddenly you were a drive... Read More
