We have a forum you can post pictures, recipes or jokes you want to share; these are not considered blogs and will be removed. On the other hand, for example, a recipe with a story about a recipe that has special meaning would be fine. Greetings to others, thank you's, etc. are not considered blogs and will be removed.

Hamlet or Spook?
Posted On 05/26/2020 03:58:58 by texasjane
It was the first week of October. Plans were already being made for the Halloween party at a near by senior citizen center. Hamlet had been invited as more of a guest than an entertainer. This meant a new costume. He loved pumpkins too much to have him ware one.  He would eat it before the party got started.Going as a Pig in a Blanket might not be a good idea... someone might say the "B" word or make him think he was anything other than a star.We even thought about turning a little box with... Picturing Your Retirement
Posted On 03/06/2020 10:03:04 by texasjane
How do you picture your retirement? How did you picture it before you got there? I am sure very few of us had the same picture for both questions. Retirement itself has nothing to do with age. It is merely going from one life style to another.I have a nephew who had enlisted in the army right out of high school.By the time he was 30 he retired from the service and went into business for himself doing a lot of what he had learned while in the service. My surprise actually happened the night before Thanksgiving.  I had been up for several days watching Christmas movies.  I had recorded some of my favorites and really indulged myself.  I was so tired by the time I had seen the last one, I fell deep asleep.  As is my custom in the evening, I open my front door to allow my dogs to terrorize the neighborhood at night.  By morning they are always worn out and neighborhood is void of terrorists.Baby Girl, my big yellow dog c... Hamlet and The Plumber
Posted On 02/24/2020 08:58:30 by texasjane
I once had a plumber show up in pink jeans and a pink shirt. He was over six feet tall with a beard. His fingernails were painted pink to match his lip stick. I have some very dear friend who are Gay, but this guy took my breath away.He made it very plain from the git-go that he was proud of being a Queen. He also had no tolerance for my opinion of what the problem was with my plumbing. He insisted on being shown how to get under the house immediately. I tried to warn him/her that there might be... A Christmas in July Pageant
Posted On 02/24/2020 08:45:52 by texasjane
Many small churches and charities have fund raisers. Mine was no different. The church board was headed by a noble woman named Gladys who thought it was her duty to make sure the Christmas in July pageant went off without a hitch.July in Texas is hot. Poor Gladys was from Nebraska so poor dear, she just did not understand. She had theatrical experience and just knew we could put on a great show. We finally got her to agree no one had to ware red wool anything.Auditions were held and several of t... Read More
