BLOGS: A blog, simply put, is something you have written, or written about.
We have a forum you can post pictures, recipes or jokes you want to share; these are not considered blogs and will be removed. On the other hand, for example, a recipe with a story about a recipe that has special meaning would be fine. Greetings to others, thank you's, etc. are not considered blogs and will be removed.

I usually don't talk about the weather (can't do anything about it anyway, so 'it is what it is'!). However, after enjoying a beautiful Sunday, I thought I would take a picture of our "brown valley" with my new Nexus smartphone. Last week, my husband was plowing snow with his tractor, and today there is very little snow, thanks to the arrival of the Chinook winds. These winds that come from the west and over the Rocky Mountains are a great reprieve during the winter, but for those of us who a... Read More
Mama washed clothes on the back porch with an old wringer washing machine .The water was drawn from a well and heated on the stove in the kitchen. The washer had to be full of hot water. "Black Friday" has arrived in Canada, and we were hit with a myriad of advertisements on TV, newspapers, and junk mail. I don't like the shopping malls at any time, but watching all that pushing and shoving, with no regard to others, made me almost sick to my stomach. I took this photo about 4 p.m. and we have at least double the a... Read More

This photo was taken yesterday by our son, and posted on Facebook. He lives closer to the city than we do, but it is the same river valley that we enjoy from our home. His comment was, "To celebrate Halloween, several of my friends and I dressed as golfers and played 18 holes." About 24 hours later... Read More
We made our first trip to the city today, after the beautiful week we had in the mountains of British Columbia. we had heard stories from friends and family about the two unusual snow storms that came through Calgary while we were enjoying warm and sunshine days in the mountains (a six-hour drive from home). I heard about 3000 public parks that were closed because of the fallen and damaged trees, about the request from the mayor to... Read More
