just up from a nap,,

Joyce brought over the memorial card from Bonnies funeral Her

bday wouldve been sept and turn 90 so she almost made it,,

she got married right out of HS and they'd made it 71 yrs!

80s here .. did water the squash this morning and that was all i did.

May get out later after sun goes down.. need to get some stuff in the

compost pile.

Brother Lee and sil CArole came over yday and brought me some frozen

food goodies and had a nice visit.

sunny 80s, will water later this afternoon,

Cooking a whole chicken in crockpot and think will

add egg noodles to the juice when done.

Picked the last eggplant yday and composted the bush.

News yday said Idaho sec of agriculture announced that

due to drought and high temps the state's onion and

potato harvest will be down 50%! I'm going to buy some

canned potatoes to have on hand in case cant get fresh

ones this fall and winter. Judy says she buys diced canned

potatoes to use in stews..I've never done it.

Also need to buy aluminum foil as there is starting to be a

shortage of it here and I use a lot of it. Even if no shortage, the

prices are going up on everything, so is wise to get a supply of things

now you use regularly.

Taking it easy again today.. stay well xo

no ones garden did well this year!

91f forecast and 104 heat index

As hot and muggy as yday, As usual I got out and

watered this morning,,will wait till sun down to pick more cherry

tomatoes, There are still a few more blooms on the bush beans

so leaving them in place till I harvest them.

Judy is planning to close up her pool this week saying she cannot

keep the algae out of it tho she uses chemicals as directed.

Mar you mentioned audiobooks once .. I've been going to bed with

audiobooks on You Tube,,what do you use?

Didnt really need any groceries so will wait till next WE to send Judy.

Been enjoying frozen fruit pies I get from ConAgra where Judys girl

is employee store Mgr..she gets 50% off so a good buy,,Banquet brand

not good but Healthy Choice and MArie Callender are tasty..cherry, apple,

peach are my favorites, and a nice treat for after dinner and before

bedtime.

Still haven't talked to nabors Joyce and Bobby about their trip..been so hot

no one gets outside anymore unless a necessity..The crew still working on

their garage and going shirtless and cant imagine how they keep from

sunburn, but they do quit early in the day.

Still haven't found the mouse in the house Paisley kitty caught and no smell

yet either! lol

Not too bad here today,, got out early and picked cherry tomatoes and

froze them to make spaghetti sauce sometime later when I need it, Got

some green beans..they're about gone I think so pulled up a few bushes

and put in compost pile. Still a few blooms on those left so will wait a bit

longer before pulling them up too. Have 2 bags of green beans in freezer

already so am cooking up what I got today and will add some small potatoes

later to them for dinner.

I saw some squash bugs on plants yday so will look for them this evening after

the sun goes down and try to kill as many as I can find.. Egg plants still small

and growing but will wait to pick them when they hopefully get a bit bigger,

I like them stuffed with burger-like spaghetti sauce mix I use for pasta.

Been watching the 1776 convoy in DC on you tube..they visited many of the war

memorials today and was nice to see again so many of the places I visited when I

lived in Virginia.

The construction guy is still working on Joyce and Bobby's garage! Cannot believe

how long it is taking him! But he let his crew go and is working alone and doesn't

work everyday either for some reason! I know Joyce is frustrated.

Judy's daughter has new job at Kawasaki plant..Starts at $18/hour and she gets $30

in OT..and has good benefits but says they are having trouble hiring and retaining

workers so still not running 3 shifts yet. Some people walk off job after 1 day,

this week one guy left at noon on his 1st day and said" this is not for me!" She

says no one wants to work anymore! Many have gotten welfare and food stamps

for so long they have forgotten what it is to work for a living!
