So proud of the Father my son is to his girls and of my DIL for being an awesome Mom to them too. Hope each of you will have a Blessed day today and Sunday.
Have fun because you never know what tomorrow will bring. George, Kyle Kid, has 5-6 months. He has an awesome outlook and takes each day as it comes. He loves Jesus and is looking forward to seeing Judy, his wife for over 60 years, who passed away last September again soon.
I know those of you on the East and the West coasts have a reprieve from this heat, but at 10:30 am we are nearing a "feel like" of 100°. I made it outside to water plants and looked just like the picture above by the time I was finished.
So now that I have cooled a bit under the ceiling fan in the computer room and combed my hair. I thought I would check and see how you are doing this Friday.
I hope you and your friends are gathering for the long weekend and have a plan to stay cool and to have a fun party time in the old town. We are excited after 3 days with no softball (it is over) or baseball, there are 2 college baseball games today and tomorrow. So I will check on you later!
The front and back plants have already been watered today. I am craving BACON so I "might" fry up a pound. Doesn't Bacon and Egg Sandwich sound good?
Then I hope to read the new book I started this week. If I read at night I get sleepy. Besides, I love Hallmark and UPtv Christian and "feel good" movies.
I have errands to run today. The College World Series starts Friday. So I will catch up on movies on UPtv or Hallmark or read Christian books on Kindle. But for now, I am off and running.
Don't forget to share your smile with everyone you encounter. We have a reprieve from 100's until next Monday, unless they change the forecast, but that is something to smile about.
Short night, 4 hours sleep. The Longhorns baseball game was supposed to start at 3 pm but with rain delay in NC, it didn't start until 9:15 pm. However, we are heading on to Omaha so it was worth the very late night. Then dogs were barking at a snake way before daylight and later two of them each caught a mouse, one of which brought the still barely alive one in the house. It is nap time in our house! SO, HOW IS YOUR MONDAY GOING?
Does anyone have a telephone number for Sparks505, or know if Lee is OK? She hasn't answered my email and I am still worried about her. Thanks!
Next question, do you ever see Monarch Butterflies? Do you have any Milkweed plants? They look like this...
When Monarchs feed on milkweed, the caterpillars ingest toxins in the plant that make them poisonous to predators until they become adult butterflies. The plant will have pods on it that contain seeds.
This is what the pod looks like when it opens and the seeds fly away, all over the place. I have at least three envelopes full of seeds and many more pods to open soon. Let me know if you would like seeds. My neighbor, a teacher, always captures the caterpillars and watches them turn into a butterfly. This year we were both out of Milkweed because of the bad freeze a year ago in February. We both bought plants. I also bought 4 colors of seeds which I shared with others already not knowing how many seeds my plant would produce. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this lesson as I did not realize Monarchs covered such a large area.
Have you ever seen a two headed giraffe? Ok, maybe it is the angle but it is really neat looking! I have one more for you... Have you ever seen a giraffe umbrella?
Well, now you have seen both! I am so blessed! My friend since 3rd grade, of about 65 years, sent that to me in the mail. Isn't it cute!!! And I love the feet on it too. Earlier in the week, a friend of about 45 years sent us 3 different flavors of Pretzels. Then yesterday I got two beautiful but different Patriotic scarves I can wear to work from a Hillian friend of about 10 years. I am truly BLESSED!
This morning was cloudy, cool, and spitting rain for just over an hour. So we got the yard mowed. Of course, it is 96° with a "feel like" of 106° or 1006° right now as we still have several hours to reach our high for the day. We even got our errands run, bought dog food, got Hubby's passport picture, and got his glasses ordered from Costco as well as bought everything and then some at Costco that was on our list. We are ready for the weekend! How about you?
It was a late night last night as the Texas Longhorn girls won two games in a row to be the first in history to be an unseeded team to advance to the World Series finals. The boys will start the Super Regionals this weekend.
I hope most of you saw Kyle Kid's post. I talked to George two days in a row and was so glad he told me he would try to get on and send a bulletin. Please keep him in your prayers as he starts more radiation on the cancer in his brain.
Would you believe I have a pair of red heart shaped sunglasses? Well, I do! And I already feel about the way that guy looks. At 9:30 it was only 79° but after 30 minutes outside watering, I came in with water running in my eyes (SWEAT). Yes it is Humid!
I am grateful for my plants and my friends. Most all my plants are really doing very good this year. I still have a few Bluebonnets blooming in the front flowerbed around the mailbox. And the milkweed plant (for Monarch Butterflies) just opened about half the pods and I gathered seeds and put them in an envelope to share with others.
