Good morning. Happy May Day! International day of the laborer. The Catholic Worker newspaper started printing in 1933 in New York City. Started with 2500 copies and increased to 100,000. It was a newspaper for workers. Not only to inform but to work for change. It is still published today. Seven times a year. And it still sells for a penny, one cent. The person who started it was Dorothy Day who was the editor until her death in 1980. That's heavy. Have a good day. Ciao for now and watch your wallet! PS: Calendar pages.
Saturday is here and our rain chances seem to have gone away until Sunday night. Today Hubby is taking another shot at getting the new drive belt on the riding lawn mower.
The belt replacement on the mower deck was completed yesterday, but the drive belt has been a challenge even after many youtube videos. Please say a prayer!
I thought I would share a picture of the front of our home. I replaced some of the solar lights that were old. The cross and the light on it makes this one of my favorite pictures.
This is one of my newest additions to put up in the backyard. A solar hot air balloon wind spinner. Yes I have many different balloon wind spinners. Anyway, I guess I had better go check on Hubby and get a few things done today.
Happy Saturday. As I type, I hear the rain assaulting the Fortress. It missed me on my journey though. Have a good day as you think of changing the page of the calendar(s). Ciao for now and watch your wallet!
The Lord has blessed us again. Our septic alarm went off at 4 pm yesterday and we called for them to come out this morning to check it. It only cost us a service call to repair a wire (not a new pump $$$).
Now we are getting on with our projects... which may include music and reading! So here is wishing a beautiful weekend for you and your family!
Good morning. Happy Friday. Getting ready for the start of the fantasy world of the weekend. For those of you employed, it is a time of the happy news, relaxation, and total disarray. The heavy partying, eating at nice restaurants, ringing doorbells and running away, the garbage can trick, etc. For the rest of us, it is the same old thing. I'm expecting rain in a couple of hours and the temperature is supposed to rise into the 60s today. It was even warm this morning on the walk, about 46°. Have a good day. Ciao for now and watch your wallet!
I am pleased to announce the controversy for this week with the repairman has been tabled. People were concerned to the point of prayer groups and GO FUND ME groups. But things are well now.
Hey Deb - how ya doing and how was your weekend? Hope you had a nice time and that the weather was nice also. Ours wa in the 80's the last several days and same tomorrow but will drop 20 degrees when the rain moves in. Hope your Monday was better than this.
About 3:30 am I woke to a vibrating dog who does NOT like thunder and lightning! It is one of my favorite things! The Rain Angel left us with 1-1/2" of blessed rain. Oh how my plants are singing praises today!
So as we say goodbye to April showers, we say hello to May flowers! (Thanks Anne for the graphic) Blessings from above! And an added bonus of a cool front. We are in the 60's today and should start Taco Tuesday in the upper 40's.
For this last week of April whether it is filled with cold or hot or dry or wet just add smiles and enjoy it.
Good morning. Happy World Malaria Day. Back to the cooler weather again. It's like 40° but it is only going to warm up to 42°. And a wind this morning that created somewhat of a cold feeling but I persevered. I'm drinking coffee this morning that has the tinge of vinegar. I have an appointment this week with my repairman coming over to do some work on my shower. I have been delaying this for a couple of years. I'm already regretting the decision but since I have canceled twice already, I feel an obligation. And, next week is the dental appointment for a root canal. So my mind is in the gutter for the next two weeks. I wish I could think of a reason to tell my repairman to hold off for two weeks. I'll bite the bullet and just continue on. I am thinking of going to the grocery store today. I'm actually more than thinking, I am going. I did secure free bananas over the weekend and so I don't have to worry about that. I was out of bananas for two days and was worried that I would never see another banana. Then my neighbor came with his truck, lowered the tailgate, and there they were. Boxes of them. Have a good day. Ciao for now and watch your wallet!
