We've been battling triple digits for three days now and I'm ready for summer "fun" to be over. Give me cool, crisp weather, rain, hot drinks, apples, falling leaves...I'm ready for autumn!! I've already decorated my house for the next season and I'm wishing the weather would match my decor. Ha, that's not pretentious or anything, is it? Thank goodness for fans and air conditioners, cool showers and garden hoses (once you run all the hot water out of them). Our county fair started today but I have no idea how many people made it to the fairgrounds. There is no shade down there and it wouldn't take long to get a whopper of a sunburn--or something worse. The forecast is for (somewhat) cooler weather--you wouldn't think anyone would be overjoyed with temperatures in the upper 80's (and I'm really not), but it's less heat than we've been having, and it will be a relief. C'mon rain...c'mon rain.....
Isn't it funny how we hang onto things for years and never use them/wear/them/look at them? And when we finally get rid of them, we think to ourselves..."why didn't I do this a long, long time ago? Less stuff means less stuff to keep clean, and I'm all for that now that I'm getting older. I still have a whole lot to go through, but at least getting started is better than ignoring things (as I can be prone to do). Good for you on going through the drawers and closets and freeing up some space in both--I'm proud of you, Margo!
How are your appliances holding up? I know your dishwasher is pretty 'iffy' and you'd mentioned that your fridge and stove might be the next to go. But it's sure not pleasant to try and go appliance shopping in the heat, is it? If your machines can hold out, there are usually Labor Day sales where you might be able to save a few precious dollars on whatever big appliances have given up the ghost--or are so close to it that you may as well buy a new one. For sure you don't want to be doing this kind of thing in the ice and/or snow! Funny how timing affects when you purchase things. I hope that when you do have to bite the bullet and replace your hardworking appliances, that you get really good ones that last you a long, long time.
Our rooster is very annoying. He came at me today and I kept pushing him away with the small rake that I use to reach the eggs that the hens lay under the far side of the coop but that beast just kept coming back at me until finally he got the message that he wasn't going to get to me and wandered off. He's a meanie and I don't like him very much, but it's his job to keep our hens safe from aerial predators so I put up with him. I've been told I need to put his head on the ground and keep it there until he goes limp (proving dominance), but I am leery of hurting him and anyway I never remember that trick and I'm not sure I could do it with the rake. Have you ever had chickens? This is a first for me. They're Dennis's "hobby" now that he has retired. We sure do get a lot of eggs from our girls--which was sweet when the prices of eggs soared a while back. We give away a lot of eggs, too. Maybe our neighbors won't mind hearing that dumb rooster crowing off and on all day if they have free eggs to compensate for his self-important racket.
So long for now, my friend...keep those air conditioners humming!
Golden August celebrated on my mini pine. Finally got my back shots; the doc hit a nerve this time & it felt like I had been tased! I have to take it easy for 3 days & then--oh joy (not really!) I can start doing some light housekeeping.😉
My goodness the morning is now in the past and the afternoon is now here for me to enjoy as I wish. For some reason I am in a fall mood so I put some pumpkin spice creamer in my coffee for the fun of f it. Ever so smooth and tasty. Looking forward to cooler temps. May you have a pleasant week counting all ones blessings from above. Smiles Gloria
If we try to see something positive in everything we do, life won't necessarily become easier but it becomes more valuable. ~Author unknown
The beautiful month of August is now here with all of its surprises and wonders that this month will bring us.
We are receiving some wanted rain showers today and tomorrow. Maybe I will go out and splash in afew puddles for the fun of it. May you have a glorious day what ever you will be doing and will do the same here in my neck of the woods. Smiles Gloria
When life throws you a rainy day, play in the puddles! ~Author unknown
My goodness this day just started and it is now going into the afternoon. The Laundry is done and went to the store for groceries. Now it is time to have a nice cup of coffee as I sit back and find that book that I am reading. May you have a peaceful week enjoying your moments . Smiles Gloria
I love old poems, ladies who lived in past times. Life was maybe not easier, but people took time to idle sometime, and mostly they took time admiring a sunrise, the flowers opening their hearts, etc. ~Marie-Ancolie Romanet #oldsoul
Hiding up in my bedroom with the dog while a new hot water tank is put in. Just replaced A/C, now this. The tank was 23 yrs old--glad we saved for a rainy day!🐡
A strong storm blew thru Wonderland on Weds and resulted in many power outages (not me thanks goodness). My back pain shot, scheduled for Thurs, was postponed til Aug 8 because the office was without power. Such is life . . . 🐰
Mattel has released many Alice In Wonderland Barbie dolls through the years:
I haven't been to a movie theater since 2016, so I won't be going to the Barbie film, but I'm glad to see films making big premieres again. I do love 'Old Hollywood' though the studio system was harsh on stars. 🌟
May your Monday day be ever so nice to you as your doing your daily duties. We are abit cool up north for we just might make it to 70 for the temp sometime today. Cant believe that July is half over already and it just started. Enjoying all the moments of summer as the late summer flowers are now starting to bloom in the flower beds. Smiles Gloria
Treat everyone with politeness, even those who are rude to you — not because they are nice, but because you are. ~Author unknown
Happy Monday to you! Sharing some outside & inside summer green. Need a bit of sunshine after all the rain. Amazing what one can do with some window boxes; got some grape tomatoes, basil, cinnamon basil, sage, curly parsley, oregano, thyme, strawberry mint . . .🪴
Merry Mid-week to you! Here in Wonderland outside temps have cooled to 73 so having no A/C is not a problem. Installers due tomorrow. Myself & the dog will head over to friend's house to get through the day while the hubby deals with things. 🌬️
Hi new week! For me, gotta make it til Thursday without A/C. While the days are in the 80s, the nights will be in the 60s; I think I can make it using fans! Empathy with all experiencing truly high temps.🍧
